Reading Tang poetry 14: writing from the opposite side

Originally, I missed each other very much, but I didn't say it directly, just that the other party missed me. This change of perspective increases the twists and turns of poetry and deepens it.

Shandong, in ancient times, refers to Kunshan, Huashan or the east of Taihang Mountain. Wang Wei's ancestral home is Qixian, and his father moved to Zhou Pu, now Yongji, which is located in the southwest of Shanxi and east of Huashan.

Use two "different" words in the first sentence. On the surface, these two "different" are strangers in a foreign land, but because they are used together in one sentence, the taste is different. Of course, "stranger" can be a tourist, a tourist or a prisoner, but it is not as appropriate as "stranger", emphasizing no friends. So the word "independence" at the beginning of the sentence is harsh. "Foreign land" and "foreign land" are both extensions and foil of the word "independence". Putting the word "unique" and the word "different" together so intensively makes this sentence look very profound and cruel, and fully expresses loneliness. "Every time" means that he has been in a foreign land for a long time. At least he has met several festivals.

"Festival", of course, includes several festivals that have been experienced, but its focus is on the Double Ninth Festival that is currently encountered. "Missing my parents twice" points out that festivals stimulate and induce wandering wanderers. If this homesickness will be aggravated in general festivals, it will be more and more intense in the Double Ninth Festival. This is because: first, the Double Ninth Festival is just around the corner, which has a more direct trigger effect. Moreover, the author has been away from home for a long time. Compared with previous festivals, the Double Ninth Festival is the one that he has been away from home for the longest time. It is common sense that the longer you stay, the more homesick you become. Second, the Double Ninth Festival is special. On this day, the ancients not only drank chrysanthemum wine to prolong life, but also wore dogwood to climb mountains to ward off evil spirits. He who climbs high must look far, and if he looks far, he will miss home. Therefore, a "Homesickness" will directly show the author's extremely strong sense of loneliness and homesickness for the Double Ninth Festival.

Wang Wei's genius lies in turning the last two sentences upside down. He wrote about the other party instead of himself, not how he missed his loved ones, but how his loved ones missed themselves. "Knowing each other from a distance" can also be written as "thinking from a distance" because he imagines each other's situation from a distance. But he used "knowledge" instead of "thinking", which was quite deliberate. On the one hand, the choice of this kind of words is definitely related to rhyme and level tone, on the other hand, "knowledge" is indeed deeper than "thinking". "Remote thinking" is mainly the imagination in the mind, and there are many uncertain factors, while "remote knowledge" confirms that imagination. It reveals that brothers will think of "I" when climbing mountains, and it is certain to miss "I". From this perspective, the difference between words makes the meaning different. Looking ahead, the author "knows from a distance" that my brother will feel deeply sorry for losing one person when climbing the mountain, but he doesn't know what to say. Instead, it is very implicit to express an abstract yearning with the image of "one person lacks everything". Carefully taste these two sentences, this is because I miss my brother, but I say that my brother misses himself; Originally, I thought about what my brother might be doing, but I said I knew what my brother must be doing. This is because brothers miss their brothers when they miss themselves, and they may even think more than brothers, but they don't say anything. If you only write from the brother's side, you will include your own thoughts about your brother, which greatly increases the content and emotional content. "Tang poetry is really interesting" said: "On the other hand, my feelings are self-contained, which is the method of avoiding reality and attacking emptiness."

The most famous example of this practice is "picking hibiscus" in Nineteen Ancient Poems of the Han Dynasty. Zhang Yugu of A Qing Dynasty said: "Looking back at my hometown, the road is vast and vast", which means "judging from the opposite side, looking back at my hometown and sighing far away." It is intended to show that lotus pickers are thinking about what their husbands (walkers) are doing.

Poetry is also written from the opposite side, and it is also a double line, but it is slightly inferior to Wang Wei's poetry. First, this poem is divorced from Wang Wei's poems, with similar ideas, even similar expressions, and has lost its own characteristics. Secondly, "also talk about people who travel far away" is not as clever as "Cornus officinalis is short of one person".

The overall feeling of this poem is that it is peaceful, which lies in the fact that there are too many words described. Judging from the scenery, the sad scenery of the last sentence still has implications, but it is not enough to add color to the whole poem. As far as scenery description is concerned, it is also a little messy, lacking concentration and depth. More importantly, compared with poems written from the opposite side, there are many fewer twists and turns.

It is Du Fu's Moonlit Night that uses the technique of negative writing, with extremely skillful expression and rich feelings.

The first few poems are often written from the opposite side after the other person misses himself, but these poems are written from the opposite side as soon as they come up. It's obviously Chang 'an Month tonight, and I'm watching it alone, but only my wife is watching the moon over Zhangzhou tonight. This kind of writing completely shifts the perspective to the other side, which makes people very surprised and alert. Looking further, the word "independence" in the sentence is of great significance.

How can a wife say "lonely" when she has children around her? "Our boys and girls, poor little babies, are too young to know where the capital is" made an account. At the same time, the word "independence" has two functions: one is to open the "double" of the last sentence remotely in structure, forming a gray line of grass snakes; The second is to imply that there was a "double" before, which means that this "single look" is only the current situation. Before that, there had been two people looking at the bright moon. "Memories", thinking, missing. In the "memory" of his wife's full moon, the first thing that comes to mind is her husband in trouble in Chang 'an. In addition, besides her thoughts and worries about her husband, I'm afraid her "Remembering Chang 'an" also contains worries about the current situation, but this layer of meaning is relatively weak and hidden in the poem. Is it related to "watching this bright light stop crying?" At the end of this sentence, this meaning appeared.

The focus of the necklace is that his wife looks at the shape of the moon alone. Although it is from imagination, it is very real. Of the two poems, one is "wet" and the other is "cold", so you should carefully scrutinize them when reading. According to the season, this time is between August and September of the lunar calendar. At night, the moonlight is bright and autumn is getting stronger. When people stand outdoors for a long time, their hair will be wet with frost and fog, and their skin will feel cold. Therefore, the word "wet" and "cold" here implies from the side that his wife has long longed for the moon and missed people far away. This is by no means an ordinary pen. The last two sentences, from reality to emptiness, from separation to integration, can be seen as taking your wife to love, or as pulling your eyes back from the other side, returning to the theme, and ending with the pen of expectation and exclamation: "When will we lie on our screen again and watch this bright light stop crying?" "-When can we meet again and watch the moon together? The "double photo" here is a double photo, which means that both people look at the moon and are photographed by it. The word "looking alone" connected with the first couplet contains the expectation and joy for the future, showing an image of a troubled couple reunited to look at the moon. A "tear mark" contains many deep thoughts and concerns between lovers.
