In the 12th year of Chongzhen in Ming Dynasty (1639), Yaojiang Academy was named after the establishment of Yi Xue, where Yuyao people Shen Guomo, Guan Zongsheng and Shi Kaoxian gave lectures in Banlin.
Yaojiang Academy, founded in Chongzhen period of Ming Dynasty, was the base camp for spreading Yangming's mind in eastern Zhejiang at the end of Ming Dynasty and the beginning of Qing Dynasty. The new site of Yaojiang Academy is located at the foot of Longquan Mountain in Yuyao, west of Wang Yangming's former residence, north of Yangming West Road, east of Shunshui North Road and south of Houqingjiang River.
After reconstruction, Yaojiang Academy is about1450m2, Yangming Memorial Hall is 3650m2, and Academy Hotel is11700m2. With the academy as the core, it forms effective interaction with memorial hall, academy restaurant and former residence. The reconstruction structure of Yaojiang Academy is intended to highlight the spatial layout of the axis system of the Academy, which enters from Chi Pan and Lingxingmen and is divided into three parts: Dacheng Hall, lecture hall, library and affiliated space.
