Pages: 462 books are works that study the essence of art from the perspective of cultural anthropology and use the methods and materials of cultural anthropology, so they can also be called anthropological art principles ... but the research object of this book is not all artistic phenomena, but only primitive art (prehistoric and modern primitive tribes); The artistic principles involved in this book are limited to the relevant parts, which are quite different from the general works on artistic principles, while the principles of cultural anthropology related to primitive art are quite concerned. Therefore, the title of this book seems to be Anthropology of Art.. However, it should be noted that, despite this, this book is mainly a work on aesthetics and literature and art, rather than a work on cultural anthropology in a strict sense. The author's original intention is only to introduce the method of cultural anthropology into the aesthetic field, and does not expect to make any achievements in anthropology, although the book also puts forward some opinions on totem system, reproductive worship, witchcraft etiquette and primitive religion.
Anthropology of Art is one of Yi Zhongtian's works close to empirical research. The word "anthropology" immediately reminds people of an empirical research and empirical investigation, and reminds people of the "bottom-up" research method of psychological aesthetics. However, Yi Zhongtian's "artistic anthropology" is still based on speculative methods, which ensures the metaphysical character of his academic research, but the trace of "top-down" has become more and more hidden. In this book, Yi Zhongtian tries not to proceed from the inherent theory, not from the definition, but from the facts. Therefore, this is no longer philosophical aesthetics, but scientific aesthetics, or more accurately, art. Anthropology of Art is Yi Zhongtian's most satisfactory academic work, because in this work, Yi Zhongtian independently put forward an artistic theory: the theory of human confirmation. The word "man's confirmation" belongs to Marx, but the theory of "man's confirmation" about art is Yi Zhongtian's artistic theory from his own research when he inspected primitive art.
Yi Zhongtian believes that the essence of art is "human confirmation". In other words, in his view, "man's confirmation" is the definition of art, however, the authorities are fascinated and the onlookers see clearly. In many cases, others often know what they have created better than the authorities. Deng Xiaomang prefaces the new edition of Anthropology of Art, and the preface is entitled "Confirmation of Human Needs to Produce Art", which is obviously a more accurate expression of Yi Zhongtian's art theory. I once said that "human confirmation" and "this statement can only be an emphasis on the humanistic position of explaining art, but can not be regarded as a definition of art."
Later, based on the main research results of artistic anthropology, Yi Zhongtian wrote Confirmation of Man: Principles of Anthropology. The confirmation of human beings needs to produce art —— An introduction to art anthropology
