The Water Margin, written by Shi Naian during his seclusion, achieved his position in the history of ancient novels in China, and was even praised as one of the four classical novels in China. This work pioneered the writing of novels in vernacular, and it is also one of the unique epic novels in China literature. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was widely circulated, and there were many folk versions, which had a far-reaching impact on the style of writing in China and even Southeast Asia.
The Water Margin is based on the rise and fall of the peasant uprising at the end of the Northern Song Dynasty. Taking the story of characters as the main clue, this paper describes in detail the whole process of peasant uprising from occurrence to prosperity to extinction, arouses tragic heroic feelings, reveals the root of social class contradictions in feudal period, and expresses deep reflection on the reasons for the failure of the uprising.
The reason why this work is widely sought after by the public is that the heroic images in the book are vividly displayed, and a series of Liangshan heroic images such as Songjiang, Lin Chong, Lu have emerged, as well as the grand blueprint of the peasant uprising and the idealistic society with great harmony in the world. At the same time, the traitor Gao Qiu criticized the oppression and oppression of loyal officials, so he was deeply loved by the people.
"Water Margin" closely follows the theme of "Civil Rebellion", vividly portrays the heroic image of Liangshan heroes, and makes the book rich and readable. For example, the leopard head Lin Chong and the flower monk Lu are both officers and men, and their skills are extremely excellent, but they have their own characteristics, which completely represent different heroic images. This is also one of the greatest features of this book.
Shi Naian Prize for Literature
There are only a handful of high recognition, Lao She Literature Award, Contradictory Literature Award, Lu Xun Literature Award and Cao Yu Drama Literature Award. These four awards, also known as the four major literary awards in contemporary China, have roughly covered the scope of China's literary types.
However, the Shi Naian Prize for Literature, named after Shi Naian, the author of Water Margin, has limited influence due to the narrow scope of winners, strong locality, the purpose of encouraging novel creation and contradictory literature prizes.
The Shi Naian Prize for Literature was established on 20 1 1, and the permanent prize was awarded in xinghua city, Shi Naian's former residence. Four outstanding works are selected every two years, including one overseas work. In order to ensure the fairness of the selection mechanism, the Organizing Committee for the Shi Naian Prize for Literature was established, with a nomination committee composed of senior literary editors, famous critics and writers, and a review committee composed of authoritative literary experts at home and abroad to preside over the awards. In addition, the ruling does not implement the challenge system. If any member of the jury has any interest relationship with the participating authors, they will be directly dismissed.
The establishment of the Shi Naian Prize for Literature aims at promoting the creation and development of contemporary China's long narrative literature, enhancing the position and influence of China's long narrative literature in world literature, and at the same time, expanding the influence and awareness of Xinghua literature through this award, promoting the development of Xinghua literature phenomenon and improving the level of local literature.
Shi Naian Memorial Hall
Shi Naian's descendants are not all dumb and poor as rumored, but they are prosperous from generation to generation. It was not until the 12th Sun Zunbang became a brilliant lintel that the Shi Ancestor's former residence was built in Baiju Town.
The stone ancestral hall was built in Qianlong forty-three years ago. After several repairs, it was expanded into three entrances, and there was a hall next to it as an auditorium, which entered through the gate. The first entrance is a hall with a teahouse. The second step is the bookstore, where storytellers often talk about the chapter of Water Margin. The third entrance is Yin Fu Hall, where the memorial tablet of the Shi family is enshrined. The memorial tablets of ancestors and descendants are here, and the descendants of history come here to worship every spring and autumn.
During the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period, the stone ancestral hall was unfortunately destroyed by the war. Until the early 1990s, the Ministry of Culture and the Township People's Government of Jiangsu Province raised funds in various ways, and professors from Fudan University in Shanghai drew the restoration map of Shishi Ancestral Hall. The famous ancient architecture expert professor of Shanghai Jiaotong University presided over the design. Finally, the project was completed in 2009, and the Shi Naian Memorial Hall was established.
The memorial hall is a memorial hall to commemorate a generation of novelists and inherit the water margin culture, and it is also a historical museum to preserve the historical materials of the stone ancestral hall. The memorial hall is divided into five exhibition halls, among which the documents and cultural relics displayed are mainly related to Shi Naian's deeds before his death. Only after long-term collection and arrangement can the staff of the memorial hall show the historical materials of cultural relics living in the folk or buried underground to the world. The exhibition mode of the memorial hall adopts the form of dialogue with history, which allows visitors to go deep into it and deeply feel the background of Shi Naian's characters and rich water margin culture. Shi Naian Memorial Hall has become an important cultural base and cultural relic protection unit in Jiangsu Province.
