Is "Summer quatrains" a frontier poem?
It's not frontier poems, it's nostalgic poems. Frontier poems refer to the poems in the Tang Dynasty which mainly describe the frontier scenery and reflect the life of soldiers guarding the frontier. Nostalgia is a genre of ancient Chinese poetry, which mainly focuses on historical events, historical figures and historical traces. This kind of poetry expresses the feelings of the past and the sustenance of reality by climbing high and looking far, reciting historical facts and remembering historical sites. Poetry about history often distorts historical facts and reality, or regrets personal experience or criticizes social reality. Summer quatrains is a five-character quatrain written by Li Qingzhao, a poet in the Song Dynasty. This is an ancient poem that satirizes the present and expresses grief and indignation. The first two sentences of the poem are astounding and straightforward, suggesting that people "live like an outstanding person", make contributions to the country, serve the court, and die like a "ghost hero" before they deserve to be indomitable heroes. Deep patriotism gushed out and shocked people. In the last two sentences, the poet satirized and criticized the shameless behavior of those in power in the Southern Song Dynasty by praising Xiang Yu's tragic behavior. Therefore, "Summer quatrains" is not a frontier poem, but a nostalgic poem.
