Western poetics divides poetry into three categories: lyric poetry, narrative poetry (epic) and dramatic poetry. But thematically it defies classification.
Let’s put it this way: a period is different for every poet, and the themes are roughly about death, love, nature, and thinking about life. Even the Cemetery School, which has obvious characteristics, cannot be said to be written according to a certain theme. Of course, it also includes the Chivalry School, the Metaphysics School, etc.
Not to mention the classification by theme, even in The classification is inaccurate, because the classification of lyric poetry, narrative poetry (epic) and dramatic poetry is artificial and arbitrary. Poets do not write according to certain laws when writing. For example, there is lyricism in narrative poems, or narrative is just a technique of expression in poetry.
PS: If you take a poem alone and classify it, it is simple. If you want to classify poems.
That’s too big and too random!
