Wutai Mountain is a part of Taihang Mountain, which is northeast-southwest trending. Mount Hengshan (Mountain Range) is located in the north of Wutai Mountain Range. As one of the five mountains, Mount Hengshan in Beiyue is located in the northeast of Mount Hengshan (mountain range). Wutai mountain range and Hengshan mountain range (mountain range) have basically the same trend, and a valley is formed between them. The famous Hutuo River flows through here, making a big detour and entering Hebei Province in the southeast of Wutai County. It is also worth mentioning that there is a dangerous pass to the east of Wutai Mountain and Hengshan Mountain, which is the famous Pingxing Pass.
Wutai Mountain is very famous, but what everyone is familiar with is actually Wutai Mountain as a mountain peak, not Wutai Mountain Range. Wutai mountain is located in the northeast of Wutai mountain range, with the highest elevation of about 306 1 m. Why is this mountain called Wutai Mountain instead of Liuqi or Qitai Mountain? It's very simple, because Wutai Mountain has always had five peaks, which are as flat as a platform and there are no trees on them, so it's called Wutai Mountain.
Wutai Mountain is so famous because of two books. Let's start with the first book. The Water Margin is one of the Four Great Classical Novels in China, with several main figures such as Lin Chong, Lu and so on. The first main character in the book is Lu. Yan' an satrap Lu Da loved being attacked. Seeing that the butcher bullied her, the busker punched her three times in a rage and fled to Shaanxi, where she met Zhao, a local landlord, as a concubine.
In order to help Luda avoid being pursued by the government, Mr. Zhao asked Luda to become a monk in Wutai Mountain nearby. The master named him Shen Zhi. Lu is a "monk with wine and flesh". If you don't let him drink in a big bowl and eat meat in large pieces for a day, it's like killing him. Lu made a scene in Wutai Mountain after drinking, which made the temple restless. They wouldn't let him, so the elders had to let him leave Wutai Mountain and go to Suoguo Temple, the capital of the Song Dynasty in Tokyo. In Water Margin, Lu made a scene in Wutai Mountain, one of the famous bridges, which was as famous as Lin's Snow Mountain Temple, some tigers and Ximen Qing's fights.
The second book is Yang Jiajiang. In the early years of the Northern Song Dynasty, Yang Jiajiang's story became a household name. Yang has seven sons, the most famous of which is Yang. In fact, Yang Wulang and Yang Yande's kung fu is not bad. Yang Wulang followed his father Yang Zhen to guard Yanmenguan. After the defeat, Yang met and died heroically. Yang Wulang became a monk in Wutai Mountain. Before that, I was lucky enough to drive Wutai Mountain by car, accompanied by Yang Wulang, and met the abbot Rui and the monk. Rui saw that the monk had a good talk with him and gave him a small package when he left. After Yang Wulang was defeated, he opened this small package, which contained a set of dragon robes. Yang Wulang understood the intention of seeing the monk and left Wutai Mountain.
Water Margin and Yang Jiajiang are very popular among the people, and Wutai Mountain is hard to become famous. In fact, Wutai Mountain had a high reputation long before the publication of the book Water Margin, because Wutai Mountain is a sacred place for Buddhism and Taoism. Buddhism calls Wutai Mountain Liang Qing and Taoism calls it Zifu Mountain.
Because the temperature at the top of Wutai Mountain is low, it is called Liang Qing, so it is called Liang Qing. Because it is said that Wutai Mountain often emits clouds of purple gas, it is called Zifushan. In ancient legends, only places where immortals haunt will have purple gas. During the Yongjia Rebellion in the Western Jin Dynasty, many people came to Wutai Mountain to live in order to escape the war. It is found that a man dressed as a mountain man often walks in the mountains, and he can't get what he wants. Everyone says there are immortals in the mountains.
Wutai Mountain is a dangerous terrain, and it is guarded by one person, but not by ten thousand people. During the Chongzhen period of the Ming Dynasty, one of the rebels occupied Wutai Mountain, relying on danger and guarding it. Although there are many loyalists, they still have nothing to do with the rebels on the mountain. Don't say that Wutai Mountain was extremely dangerous in ancient times when the traffic was backward. Even if the traffic is developed now, Wutai Mountain can still be called steep, and it is "a must-see place in northern Shanxi".
