His first book of poetry was printed 1000 copies, but unfortunately, none of it was sold. He had to give up all these poems. At that time, the famous American poets Longfellow, Lowell, Holmes and others who achieved great success simply dismissed this booklet, and the great poet John Greenleaf Whittier even threw it into the stove. Because in their eyes, the carpenter's son doesn't deserve to write poetry at all.
