Du Fu's poem Dui Xue was written by Du Fu when the Anshi Rebellion fell, and Du Fu was forced to live in an isolated city. This poem was written by Du Fu when he was living in Chang 'an in the winter from Tang Suzong to Deyuanzai (756). Shortly before Du Fu wrote this poem, Tang Jun, an archaic prime minister, led a big battle with An Lushan rebels in Chentaoxie and Qingban, which resulted in tens of thousands of casualties.
