Sima Yi (179 -25 1), born in Wenxian County, Hanoi (now west of Wenxian County, Henan Province), was a powerful minister, politician, strategist and founder of the Western Jin Dynasty in the Three Kingdoms period of China.
Sima Yi assisted four generations of Wei lords, witnessed the decline of Cao Shi family from prosperity, contributed to the stability of Cao Wei regime, and laid the foundation for his grandson Sima Yan and Jin Wei to unify China. Li Shimin, Emperor Taizong, once commented on Sima Yi in the Book of Jin Xuandi Ji. On the one hand, he affirmed Sima Yi's outstanding talent, on the other hand, he mocked him as a human being.
Sima Yi's Early Experience
Sima Shi is the descendant of Li Zhong, the son of Levin, that is, Zhu Rong, the Xia official. From ancient times to Shang Dynasty, Xia Guan was handed down from generation to generation. In the Zhou Dynasty, Xia Guan was renamed Sima. In Zhou Xuanwang, the ancestor Cheng Bo divorced his father to pacify Xu Fangyou and gave him Sima's family. Sima Yi, the twelfth ancestor of Sima Yi, destroyed Qin with Xiang Yu, and was named Yin King, with its capital in Hanoi. During the Han dynasty, it became Hanoi county, and Sima family lived for generations.
Sima Yi, the second son of Sima Fang, was resourceful when he was young. At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Sima Yi was born in troubled times and "always worried about the world".
