Under what circumstances did Ye Ting write Prison Song?

Prison Song is a vernacular narrative poem written by party member Ye Ting, the commander of the New Fourth Army and the Communist Party of China, when he was imprisoned in Zhazidong, Chongqing. This poem was written in 1942.

Ye Ting was illegally arrested by the Kuomintang during the Southern Anhui Incident, and was imprisoned in Shangrao, Jiangxi, Enshi, Hubei, Guilin, Guangxi and other places, and finally transferred to Jizhongying, Chongqing Sino-US Institute of Technical Cooperation. In prison, Ye Ting suffered all kinds of inhuman torture and remained firm. In the face of all kinds of inducements from the Kuomintang, he showed the integrity of a producer. He wrote this poem on the prison wall and was widely read by later generations.
