Say it's flowers, not flowers, say it's fog? Not fog.
It came in the middle of the night and left at dawn.
When did a short and beautiful spring dream come? When they leave, they are like clouds in the morning.

Chaoyun: The unpredictable clouds come from Song Yu's Gaotangmi. According to legend, the king of Chu once traveled to Gaotang and met the goddess Wushan. When leaving, the goddess of Wushan said, "My concubine is in the sun of Wushan, but she is blocked by high hills. Dan is a cloud, and dusk is rain. Sooner or later, under the balcony. "
Comment and analysis
There is always a feeling that you can't catch it if you want to; There is always an emotion that I want to say but I can't say it; There is always an inspiration that comes and goes in a hurry, leaving no trace. This kind of vague emotion is written in Bai Juyi's poems. This poem is full of metaphors, but it doesn't solve the mystery: it's not flowers or fog, but it comes at night and goes in the morning. What is as ethereal as spring dreams and clouds? Some people say it is mourning for the dead, while others say it is "for * * *", which makes people daydream. The last two sentences are quasi-objects, which truly and emotionally describe that kind of erratic feeling. Zhou Bangyan's "When people enter the river like the wind, their feelings stick to the ground like rain" ("Jade House Spring") also uses this method.
