Tanweng
Bai is very sympathetic to the suffering of the people, and this is just "Tanweng" as evidence.
Nanshan
Cutting firewood. His face was dusty and smoky, and his temples were gray and his fingers were black.
Tan makes money by selling business, who clothes the mouth of food.
Who is responsible for the clothes? I am worried that the poor will be cold.
Snow underfoot in the city as darkness falls, and the carbon ruts of cars driving at dawn grind ice.
The trapped people, the hungry sun and the oxen remained high, and the south gate city broke through the mud outside.
The cool air comes gently, the messenger in yellow is in white.
After processing the paperwork, he verbally expressed his pardon, then returned to the carriage and scolded the cow to lead it north.
A cart of charcoal weighs more than a thousand kilograms. Unfortunately, the palace general was not so eager.
Half horse length of red gauze and 10 feet of damask, with a straight line of ox head filled with charcoal.
The poem "Tanweng" is one of the fifty poems of the "New Yuefu", a great realist poet in the Tang Dynasty. It describes the charcoal-burning dilemma of an old man's life and reveals the evil nature of the "New Palace" in the Tang Dynasty.
?
? This brings us to the beginning of the poem, which is one of the famous mountains in Zhongnan, close to the capital Chang'an, giving us a glimpse of an ancient charcoal-dwelling life in great poverty.
? "Tanweng, cut down the charcoal from Nanshan Mountain." The man who made the charcoal was not even an inch of the land. All the creatures on it were only an ax and a cart, plus ten fingers blackened by fireworks. He had no wife or children. He was a lonely man cutting firewood and charcoal in the Nanshan Mountains. He achieved "a face covered with dust and smoke, and his temples were gray and his fingers were black." It is easy to imagine his hard work. The charcoal old man didn't ask too much about his life, "How can he get money from selling charcoal? Food in his mouth, clothes," he just wanted to eat and wear, and maintain a minimum life. Logically speaking, it is not difficult for a person to support himself alone, but even such a wish is difficult for him to realize. Charcoal is worth keeping people warm. The old man worked hard to chop wood and burn charcoal to bring warmth to others, but his clothes were pitifully thin.
? The clothes are thin and I hope for warm weather in general, right? No, on the contrary, it is the old man's life force that "interprets the fact that charcoal is cheap and wishes for cold weather". He would rather endure the cold in order to make a little more money than selling charcoal. This conflicting mood is a profound demonstration of Tanweng's tragic situation.
? "The snow is a foot away at night, and driving at dawn breaks the ice and carbon tracks." Really cold weather is coming. Early in the morning, he put on his car and walked on the icy road to sell charcoal in Chang'an City. From Zhongnan Mountain to Chang'an City, what does he want to do on the way? The poet does not tell us; but imagine that outside, he must be full of hope, because it is directly related to his car carbon future life. Reading this, we feel closer to old and we can't wait to find out what kind of car this charcoal can sell for a fair price. But the poet did not tell us the result immediately. He asked Tanweng to rest and breathe, and let the readers calm down a little bit.
Then continue to write:? "Who dances with the cooling air and the messenger in yellow with white shirt?". One is a eunuch wearing a yellow shirt, and the other is a eunuch slave wearing a white shirt. They pretended to be the emperor's order to buy the goods, regardless of Tanweng's consent or not, and went to the north to catch up with the carbon vehicles. The emperor lives in the north, and the driver of the carriage is the palace eunuch. How can an old man sell charcoal to deal with it? "A cart of charcoal weighs more than a thousand kilograms. Unfortunately, the palace general was not so eager." It took a thousand pounds of charcoal to know that several thousand kilograms of diesel oil were burned out, and it took countless days to chop these extremely heavy wood. Got it! Put the firewood into the charcoal, among which the old and lonely dust, how much torture will follow in the fireworks! But what exactly is all it takes to change? "Half a piece of red yarn and 10 feet of damask, tied at the head with a carbon value charge." But even if the yarn and damask are three feet together, how many days can this be worth the hard work? This palace is so where to buy stuff, they are just robbers. They took not just a car's carbon, but the old man's hope of life, deprived of his life. This is a kind of reader outrage! After reading this poem, we can't help but ask: Tanweng's green temples, is this a valuable reward for him to be able to survive in the cold winter?
? Below each poem by Bai Juyi there is "New Yuefu", a description of the theme of the poem, and a sequence of titles. The order of "Tanweng" is "Bitter Palace City", which is to reflect the pain of the people who created the city palace. "Palace market" was the most rogue way for the Tang Dynasty court to directly plunder people's property. Originally, when the court needed daily necessities, it went to private purchasing officials and the Zhenyuan Dynasty instead of the palace eunuchs to make direct purchases. The palace often sent hundreds of people to Chang'an and popular neighborhood affairs. When they met something they liked, they just said it was a "city palace" and took it away, and no one dared to ask. Sometimes you will be given 2 feet of silk yarn to calculate the reward; sometimes not only will you not be given any reward, but you will lose your "gateway money" and "feet price." Therefore, every small shop that makes it, even if it sells sesame cakes with wine, is closed. The store is afraid to do business.
