How to evaluate Hu Shi's poetic idea of "writing with poetry" and its significance in literary history

Abstract: Hu Shi's thought of "taking poetry as text" and his experiment of vernacular poetry must be understood as a concrete process of ideological pursuit. In order to seek new possibilities of change, Hu Shi consciously deviated from the traditional cognitive concepts and cultural psychology. It seems that "writing with poetry" is an unrealistic theory, but its inherent language consciousness finally contributed to the theoretical transformation of the literary revolution. In the process of exploring vernacular poems, Hu Shi deliberately insisted on "language initiative", tried his best to coordinate the relationship between various new morphemes in the poem and explore the aesthetic effect of vernacular pronunciation. Such a practical path, which combines consciousness infiltration with experimentalism, makes it bypass the misunderstanding of others' reform in the past, and finally makes China's poetry sail out of the traditional channel.
