West Lake Nostalgia (2) Santai Dream Trail

After visiting the West Lake several times, I only know that Yanggong Dike is backed by green mountains and steps on the lake, but I don’t know that the place where Yanggong Dike leans has a resounding name - Santai Mountain.

Just like its elder brother Wutai Mountain, Santai Mountain actually has three mountains, namely Zuotai Mountain, Zhongtai Mountain and Youtai Mountain. It's just that unlike the tens of thousands of people worshiping on Wutai Mountain, the foothills of Santai Mountain are uniquely quiet.

At night, outside Chongwen Gate in Beijing, the dense clouds from the day before have not dispersed, and there is no moon and no light. Chen Kui, who was the governor at the time, took his two brothers at home and approached Chongwen Gate step by step by the light of the fire on the tower. The fire light illuminated a small open space in front of the city gate. The place where pedestrians used to walk has now become a restricted area. Only on the edge of the open space are some bowls and chopsticks filled with wine and food, and paper money is everywhere in the mud after the rain. In the center of the open space, there was a corpse lying horizontally, and half a meter away, was the head still soaked in blood. This is Yu Qian, the former Minister of War of the Ming Dynasty.

Eight years ago, also outside the high walls of Beijing, Yu Qian wore gold and armor for the first time in his life and used a partial division to repel the Oara army and protect the capital. Eight years later, this hero who saved the country fell at the hands of the executioners of the Ming Dynasty.

A sudden strong wind roared, blowing out the torches on the city wall, and the soldiers on the city wall buzzed and made a commotion. Taking this opportunity, Chen Kui and the others rushed into the center of the open space, lifted up Yu Qian's body, and disappeared into the streets. When the torch was lit again, there was only a pool of dark red blood in the center of the clearing.

Chen Kui had already had a premonition of Yu Qian's death. In recent days, there have been many voices in the court, all of which were from powerful officials from all walks of life impeaching Yu Qian and falsely accusing him of treason. For such a crime, no matter which emperor is in power, even if there is no solid evidence, he must be far away from him. What's more, this is Yu Qian Yu Shaobao, who supported the previous emperor, defended Beijing, and was famous throughout the government and the public.

After returning home, Chen Kui placed Yu Qian’s body in the main hall and took his two clan brothers to perform a worship ceremony. Thinking of Yu Qian's heroic spirit during his lifetime, but now his body is in a different place, he couldn't help but burst into tears, but he didn't dare to make a sound to arouse suspicion. When he was so sad, Chen Kui even bit his lip without making any sound. In the main hall that night, there was only one candle burning and one silent tear. The next day, Chen Kui drove out of Xizhimen and came to a graveyard in the western suburbs. He lied that a distant relative in his family had passed away and gave a local farmer some silver. He temporarily buried Yu Qian's body and asked the farmer to take good care of it.

After returning to his hometown, Chen Kui quickly sent his two clan brothers back to his hometown in Nanjing. He went to work in the government as usual, so as not to arouse suspicion. He only passed by the mass graves in the western suburbs when it was convenient. Check whether Yu Qian's grave still exists.

When Yu Qian died, his wife Dong, son Yu Mian, adopted son Yu Kang and their clan members were all sent to guard the border. Three years later, Yu Qian's adopted son Yu Kang was pardoned. The news reached Chen Kui's mansion, and he quickly summoned his clan brothers to the border to secretly welcome Yu Kang back.

It was another moonless and lightless night. Chen Kui brought Yu Kang to the inner room and immediately knelt down on the ground.

"My lord, I am powerless to do anything for Yu Shaobao to receive this unfair retribution. I can only risk my life to steal your remains and bury them in a mass grave in the western suburbs. This is a real disgrace to your honor as a hero." I hope you will forgive me!"

Hearing that his father's body was still there, Yu Kang burst into tears and knelt down in front of Chen Kui. But he couldn't be loyal and filial to his father, but he was a hero who spared no effort to protect his father's remains. This kindness will never be repaid even if he dies!"

Chen Kui hurriedly helped Yu Kang up, covered his face and cried, "I'm here! I have long admired Shaobao's wisdom, and for the past few years, I have only hoped to welcome the young master back and send him his remains for burial."

"My father wrote many times before his death. , I wanted to resign and return to my hometown but was not allowed to do so. Today, I finally fulfilled my father’s wish.”

A few days later, it was another moonless and lightless night. With the help of Chen Kui, Yu Kang took Yu Qian's body out of the mass grave, disguised himself as a merchant and rushed back to his hometown of Qiantang.

A few months later, Yu Kang drove to the West Lake. Drive down the mountain along the Yue Fei Temple on the north side of Su Causeway. Bones are buried in barren tombs on the mountainside, and horses are stationed there, which makes people sigh. At the foot of the mountain, Yu Kang finally buried his father's bones in his hometown. Six years later, Yu Qian was rehabilitated. Yu Kangcai dared to erect a monument in front of his tomb, and then drove north to live in seclusion in the countryside of Jingxing County, Hebei Province. Since then, people in Hangzhou have spontaneously come to worship. More than 20 years later, Emperor Xiaozong of the Ming Dynasty named Yu Qian the Duke of Su Min, and built a temple and a tomb, thus creating Yu Qian's tomb today.

Postscript

The creek at the foot of Santai Mountain is poetically decorated with spring and summer flowers and plants. On the bank is the quiet and solemn tomb of Yu Qian. Walking along the corridor to the tomb, touching the stone incense burner handed down from the Ming Dynasty, I solemnly bowed three times to this national hero. The tranquility here reminds me of Wang Yangming’s tomb in Lanting, Shaoxing. At this point, I finally had the honor to pay homage to the two saints of the Ming Dynasty in my heart. One is by the West Lake and the other is by the Orchid Pavilion. Although they are both near famous tourist attractions, they are both inaccessible.

Walking through the stone road in front of the tomb and crossing a stone bridge, you will find Huagang Park. Tour groups filed out one after another, repeating the same rhetoric across the creek and stone road. "In front of us is the tomb of our national hero, Yu Qian, the Shaobao Shaobao of the Ming Dynasty and Minister of the Ministry of War.

Yuan Mei, a great poet of the Qing Dynasty, once wrote a poem, "Thanks to Yue Yu Shuang Shaobao, the world began to realize that the West Lake is important." That is to say, the West Lake is more familiar to the world precisely because of Yue Fei and Yu Qian. Okay, let's turn right ahead and go to the next attraction. "

"Isn't Yu Qian talking about cross talk? "

"This is our national hero! "

"Learn from Comrade Yu Qian! ”

Come here, Yu Shaobao, see you again!

Only one year after Yu Qian’s death, incidents involving Shi Heng, Xu Youzhen and Cao Jixiang who persecuted Yu Qian happened one after another. Shi Heng’s death Yu was in prison, Xu Youzhen was exiled, and Cao Jixiang rebelled and was exterminated. One morning, in the main hall, those who had followed the rebel party to impeach Yu Qian had already sent a memorial to Zhu Qizhen's son Ming Xiaozong for Yu Qian's rehabilitation.

"Your Majesty, I have the courage to write a letter to vindicate Yu Qian. Yu Qian has devoted his whole life to the country, has a clean heart, is loyal and righteous, and has won glory with the sun and the moon. He is truly a role model for us!" "

"The late Emperor knew that he was unjust when he was still alive. I really admire Yu Qian's loyalty." Xiaozong of the Ming Dynasty waved his hand and said, "Come here, I will posthumously send Yu Qiante to Dr. Guanglu and Zhu Guo." , Taifu, posthumous title Sumin. I am very pleased that I can follow the example of Taifu as a minister. "

A chorus of shouts came from the hall, "Your Majesty! "

More than five hundred years later, Zhang Mazi said in Master Tang's ear, "Dead people are sometimes more useful than living people.
