A Comparison of Two Nature Poems

Abstract: william wordsworth is a representative of Romantic writers and a great natural writer. His great imagination, together with the poet's philosophy and some mysterious thoughts, is deeply rooted in poetry creation. John keats's To Autumn is also an excellent poem about nature. In "To Autumn", a cursory reading will make people think that john keats described a typical day in this season and depicted various colorful detailed images. This paper analyzes these two representative poems from figures of speech, image skills and themes in order to appreciate natural poems.

Nature poetry is an important part of poetry. It praises all creatures in nature, big and small, such as the four seasons, plants, animals, mountains and rivers, clouds and rain. Poets are rooted in their rich imagination, philosophy and some mysterious thoughts in their creation. By analyzing natural poetry, we can appreciate the beauty of poetry.

1. Rhetoric in Daffodil

Personification has been successfully used in both poems. In the poem I Roam Alone Like a Cloud, personification and simile are well used in the first line. The poet assumes that he is a cloud (figuratively) floating in the sky. When Wordsworth said' I' in the second line (the poet is like a cloud), he looked down at the valleys and mountains and enjoyed the daffodils; This is personification. An inanimate object (cloud) has human qualities, enabling it to see daffodils. The line "10,000 flowers see me at a glance" is an exaggeration, an exaggeration. It describes the scene of 10,000 daffodils, all together. Alliteration is the repetition of similar sounds, which is used in the word H in the words high and hills. In To Autumn, personification is widely used. In the second quarter, for example, autumn is personified as a reaper, crossing a stream and watching cider press. Otherwise, autumn is listless and even asleep. Ploughing is a "half-harvest", and winnowed hair means that the ripe grain is still standing and the cider is still being squeezed. However, the end of this cycle is not far away. The media is squeezing out the "last exudate" to find other words to slow down. Please note that Keats described a reaper who didn't harvest or start the printing press. The personification here is very successful. It endows autumn with individuality, and autumn is no longer abstract.

2. Imagery skills

The poem In Narcissus depicts the image of lakes, fields, trees and stars in Urswat. Wordsworth kept praising daffodils, comparing them to the Milky Way (in the second quarter), their dance (in the third quarter), and dreaming of joining the dance of daffodils in the last quarter. John keats's Ode to Autumn is full of images, and the five-step iambic verse with eleven lines each emphasizes different types of images, different times of the day and personified seasons. John keats's Ode to Autumn is full of images, and the iambic pentameter poems with eleven lines each emphasize different types of images, different times of the day and anthropomorphic seasons. Take the first section as an example, it is full of visual images, all of which imply the connection between fullness and maturity. For example, the first line ends with "many fruits", which reminds people that trees and other plants are loaded with various specific agricultural products. Readers can also feel juicy ripening, which fills and expands every different fruit. The vines are full of fruits and are blessed; The branches of the apple tree were bent by the fruit to be picked; The gourd expands, the hazelnut is "plump" and the nuts are developed; The beehive "o'erbrim" is full of nectar.

3. Title and theme

The title "daffodil" is a simple word, which reminds us of the arrival of spring, when the fields are full of daffodils. Narcissus is a yellow flower with amazing shape and beautiful fragrance. A bunch of daffodils symbolizes the joy and happiness of life. The theme of the poem "Narcissus" is a group of human emotions inspired by nature, which we may ignore because of our busy life. Narcissus means rebirth, a new beginning for mankind, and is favored by nature. The arrival of daffodils in March is welcome and a happy time to enjoy them! There are three festivals in autumn. Each of the three sections shows us different times of the day and autumn. I think this poem shows two different time processes. The first is the time of day. The first section is foggy morning. The second is in the evening, when the scorching sun is in the sky, which makes people sleepy. The third picture shows a "striped cloud" with a "rose color" piercing the sky at sunset.

In the poem To Autumn, it shows the development of autumn this season. The first section is early autumn, because "summer has passed." It shows sum mer's generosity and maturity. The second is Mid-Autumn Festival, because it is the harvest season. The third is late autumn, because these birds are going to the south for the winter. From the above, we can see the optimism in poetry.

"Poetry is the natural expression of strong feelings: it comes from emotions recalled in peace" (Shelley). Poetry teaches us music, metaphor, concentration and characteristics. Through the analysis of natural poetry, we can see the beauty of poetry and find the source of wisdom and joy forever flowing in our hearts.
