Du Mu’s three most famous poems are "Reminiscence", "Ti Wujiang Pavilion" and "Autumn Evening".
1. "Reminiscences" Tang Dynasty - Du Mu
A man in a wine shop in a down and out world, with a slender waist and light palms.
After ten years of dreaming of Yangzhou, I gained the reputation of a brothel.
Translation:
I am in trouble, drinking and having fun, walking indulgently, holding the beautiful woman's slender waist, drunk and watching the light singing and dancing.
Yangzhou seemed to have had a big dream in ten years, and it only ended up with the reputation of a brothel as heartless and heartless.
2. "Ti Wujiang Pavilion" Tang Dynasty - Du Mu
The victorious and defeated soldiers have unexpected family affairs, and they are shameless and shameless.
The children of Jiangdong are so talented that their comeback is unknown.
Translation: Victory or defeat is a common matter for military strategists, and it is difficult to predict in advance. A true man is one who can endure humiliation and bear heavy burdens. Overlord of Western Chu, Jiangdong's descendants are full of talents. If they can regroup and fight back, it's hard to say who will lose and who will win when Chu and Han fight.
3. "Autumn Eve" Tang Dynasty - Du Mu
The cold autumn light of red candles paints the screen, and the small light fan flutters the fireflies.
The night sky is as cool as water, and I sit and watch Altair and Vega.
Translation:
On the autumn night, the candlelight illuminates the painting screen,
with a small Luo fan in hand to beat the fireflies.
The stone steps are as cool as cold water at night.
Sit quietly in the palace and gaze at the Cowherd and the Vega.
Du Mu was known as "Ziwei Sheren" and "Du Ziwei". Du Mu (803-about 852) was named Muzhi, also known as Fanchuan Jushi. He was a member of Zhongshu Sheren. Because there are many crape myrtles planted in Zhongshu Province, it is also the place where government affairs are handled daily. The poet used flowers as a metaphor for himself. He did not follow the crowd, but kept his integrity, and wrote the masterpiece "Lagerstroemia Flower" handed down from generation to generation. Therefore, he was called "Ziwei Sheren" and "Du Ziwei". Dawn welcomes the autumn dew, and a new branch does not occupy the most beautiful spring in the garden. Where are the peaches and plums that are speechless? The sun is smiling towards the wind.
