As for "shrew and unruly", Mao Zedong immediately criticized Gan Long: This is a slander against the working people!
So, how did the phrase "bitch and unruly people" come to Xuzhou?
I have visited Xu many times, on the one hand, I visited the Yellow River flood, on the other hand, I traveled around the mountains. Legend has it that he once came out of the Qianlong Palace at the foot of Yunlong Mountain and went to the street to visit incognito. When he saw a couple carrying a big vat, a bad smell came to his face. He learned Xuzhou dialect and asked, "What are you carrying?"
The man who carried the jar replied, "Think of it as soup."
Legend has it that the inventor of Kuaita Soup is Peng Zu, the earliest cooking expert in China and the founder of the kitchen line. 4000-5000 years ago, Emperor Yao was seriously ill and could not recover for a long time. Peng Zu went up the mountain to collect herbs and got a three-tailed pheasant. When he came back, he made soup with many kinds of Chinese herbal medicines and gave it to Yao to make him recover. Thanks to Peng Zu, Yao sealed Xuzhou to him. Peng Zu's wild chicken soup was also handed down, and was later renamed Kuaita soup.
Because it is the same as any pronunciation, Qianlong mistakenly heard "what soup", so he asked again and got the answer "what soup". Ganlong got angry and thought that Xuzhou people were making fun of him, so he grabbed the rope of the soup jar and wouldn't let him go. The soup seller was eager to catch up with the market, so he gave the dragon a push. Gan Long's bodyguard came forward to protect him and got into a fight with the couple carrying the cylinder. There are many people watching. Gan Long was afraid of revealing his identity, so he retreated with his bodyguard.
When he returned to the palace, Qianlong scolded, "You are a bitch and unruly when you are in a barren land!"
This kind of talk is swearing, and Xuzhou people have long been miserable.
Therefore, Xuzhou scholars actively research, where did these two words of Gan Long come from? Is it true or not? Did you scold Xuzhou? After several years of research, I finally came to the conclusion that these two sentences are not scolding Xuzhou, and the evidence mainly includes three points:
First, Gan Long came to Xuzhou four times, and there was no similar "curse" in his poems about Xuzhou. On the contrary, his poem "Song of Flying Crane" also contains the sentence "Ancient Xuzhou has green mountains and green fields, and the Yellow River flows east and south", which is a complete praise of Xuzhou's landscape. How can he say that Xuzhou is a wasteland?
Second, after Gan Long first came to Xuzhou, he visited Yunlong Mountain and paid tribute to Su Dongpo's remains on the mountain. Then he decided to build a palace at the foot of Beishou Mountain in Yunlong Mountain, which is the Qianlong Palace that still exists. If Qianlong thinks that Xuzhou is "a barren land, a bitch and a unruly people", it is impossible to build a palace here.
Third, the words "go to a bad place, bitch, unruly people" are aimed at foreigners, foreigners.
Fourth, the words "go to a bad place, be a shrew and unruly" are just folklore, and they are not recorded in history books, so they are not enough.
