The Application of Image in Psychotherapy

Meaning refers to the mind; Image refers to the object image. The so-called image is an objective phenomenon organized selectively and orderly in subjective consciousness.

The "image" in psychotherapy refers to an imaginary psychological image, which does not really exist. The word "image" here refers to all internal psychological symbols similar to sensory perception. Image is not just a visual image. According to the different perceptual channels of information symbols, they can be divided into visual images, auditory images, taste images, tactile images and olfactory images. Among them, visual images are dominant.
Image originates from unconsciousness, which is mainly manifested in visual image.
The way it appears will also appear in auditory and other sensory ways.
Images can express meaning and are symbolic. This means. Meaning is often not the surface and direct meaning of this image, but it can reflect the psychological activities hidden behind the image. All psychological things can be expressed by images, because in conscious or subconscious activities, people often use images to symbolize and construct psychological reality.
Therefore, images are symbols used in unconscious language.
