1. His realistic works are mostly five-character or seven-character ancient poems, which initially show the argumentative and prosaic cultural characteristics in Song poetry. Most of his lyric poems about scenery are secret poems and quatrains, which are beautiful and refined and have far-reaching implications. His works of learning folk songs are simple and natural, easy to understand and have a folk flavor.
Secondly, Wang Yucheng's poems have snow, a sense of exile and a good concern for snow.
1, in the snow
This is the work of the poet when he was an admonition officer in his early years. Expressed an honest scholar-bureaucrat's deep sympathy for the people and dissatisfaction with the political situation. This poem was written in Song Taizong Duan AD (988), and the author was an admonition official and historian at that time. During the war between Song Dynasty and Qidan, the people were miserable. He expressed his feelings for snow, his remorse for the people and his loyalty to the wind.
2. Feeling exiled
This is a poem written by the author based on his personal experience in Shangzhou. At that time, Shaanxi people were displaced by famine, and it was extremely difficult for the author to take his wife and children to Shangzhou. Although Wang Yucheng's life is miserable, he can still see the plight of the people and feel heartache for it. This poem is approachable, fresh and natural.
3. "Love Snow"
Back in Beijing, I wrote this poem on a snowy day to teach my son Wang Jiayou. Tell my son how to live and be a man. The language of the poem is simple and popular, expressing the sympathy and regret of an official with a sense of justice for the poor people.
