Bai Juyi was the secretariat of Hangzhou for two years, and later he was the secretariat of Suzhou for more than a year. When he was young, he roamed the south of the Yangtze River and lived in Suzhou and Hangzhou. He knew Jiangnan like the back of his hand, so he was deeply impressed. When he returned to Luoyang for more than ten years after retiring from Suzhou, he wrote these three "Memories of Jiangnan".

The specific time to write lyrics has always been different. It is said that after Bai Juyi left Suzhou; It is said that in the third year (838); It is said that in the first year of Daiwa (827); Wang Guowei said it was written in "Dahe 89".
