Unforgettable Ice City
- My University Life
Text/Cambridge
If I were a bird,
I should also sing with a hoarse throat:
This land battered by storms,
This river of sorrow and anger that always surges with us,
The angry wind that blows endlessly,
And the extremely gentle dawn from the forest...
- And then I died,
p>Even the feathers rot in the earth.
Why do I always have tears in my eyes?
Because I love this land deeply...
?——Inscription
At the age of eighteen, I set foot on the black soil for the first time , it was around 7 o'clock in the morning on September 3, 1984, on the 18th train from Beijing to Harbin. Because I was applying for a transit visa from Beijing, there was no sign-in seat. Even though I was young, I had no choice but to stand all the way to Harbin.
As soon as I got out of the station, the sun was shining brightly and the sky was clear. My eyes suddenly lit up. The golden buildings, exotic-style buildings, and large and neat squares all caught my eye. I thought to myself, this Harbin is much bigger than the county town where we live. It is a provincial capital after all. It feels a bit like Grandma Liu entering the Grand View Garden - I am confused.
Later I learned that Harbin, also known as the Ice City, where I set foot, is no ordinary city. It is a big city in Northeast Asia and even the whole of Asia. It is known as "Moscow of the East". ", also known as "Oriental Little Paris". Her unique cityscape and exotic life charm are second to none compared with other cities across the country. The unique tram in China shuttled through the train station square, which really surprised me, a mountain kid, for a long time. I thought how could this "train" still run in the city?
The shape of the train station, the big clock in the square in front of the station, and the blond and blue-eyed foreigners... While I was looking around, a Northeastern man suddenly stood in front of me, saying something I had never heard of before. Ask me in Northeastern dialect: Do you need to engrave words on the pen? Before I could react, the pen in my jacket pocket had already slipped into the big man's hand. He couldn't help but quickly carved the words "Harbin Memorial" on his pen, and then asked for 2 yuan for the engraving fee. Oh my god, how can I give the money I saved by not being willing to eat or drink on the train to others? But it was my first time here and I was unfamiliar with the place. How could I dare to reason with you? I just paid the money and left. In an instant, the beautiful mood was poured out by "a ladle of cold water".
Because I didn’t know how far Harbin was and how many days it would take to get there by train, I arrived two days earlier than the registration time on September 5. There was no pick-up sign in the square in front of the station, and there was no staff guidance, so I had to follow the instructions on the admission notice and take the No. 9 bus to find the school. When I saw the white coats coming and going on Health Care Road in Nangang District, a stone in my heart finally fell to the ground. I looked up and saw the sign of "Harbin Medical University". Although the door was nothing special, I felt that the words were written in a relaxed and generous way, simple and elegant, and full of charm. It was only later that I learned that the name of the school was inscribed by the famous Mr. Guo Moruo. From then on, I remembered Mr. Guo’s calligraphy style.
After I found the dormitory, I discovered that a classmate Xing from Jining City, Inner Mongolia had already checked in before me. When I asked, it turned out that we were both from Tianya. Later, this classmate ranked second in the dormitory, and everyone called him Xing Lao Er, but I always felt that he should be called "Xing Lao Da" because he was the first to register in the 29th period. Then I met Zhu Lidong from Chongming Island in Shanghai at the school guesthouse. He was new here. He had long hair and was wearing green bell-bottoms. He couldn't understand a word he said. He looked like a "little Ah Fei" from Shanghai. I couldn't help but think. There is a sense of distance. Unexpectedly, Teacher Jing Zhifen arranged us to live in the same dormitory with bunk beds, and we later became good buddies who talked about everything.
College life is tense and busy, which is completely different from middle school. First of all, I have to face dialects from all over the country, and I also have to learn to speak Mandarin. After signing up, I was assigned to dormitory 212 in Building 6, with 9 people living in the same dormitory. There are students from Heilongjiang Province, as well as students from six provinces including Shanghai, Liaoning Province, Inner Mongolia, Zhejiang Province and Gansu Province. According to the custom in Northeast China, the nine brothers were seated according to their age.
The eldest, Feng Zhitian, is from Shenyang City, and is currently engaged in health supervision at the Liaoning Provincial Health Service Center; the second eldest, Wang Jingmin, is from Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, and is now engaged in anesthesia at the Beijing Sixth People's Hospital; and the third eldest, Yuan Wenguo, is from Qitaihe City, Heilongjiang Province After staying in school, he went abroad to work in Canada; the fourth brother Fang Yong, from Harbin City, was reportedly assigned to the Heilongjiang Provincial Sports Management Center after graduation, but there has been no news; the fifth brother Ma Fuxiang, from Sheng County, Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province ( Now in Shengzhou City), he dropped out of school due to mental reasons when he was in the second year of college. He was later transferred to the 30th grade and relapsed less than half a year later, so he had to be sent back to his hometown. It is not known whether he is still alive now; Lao Liu Tianjiang, from Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province Mishan County, now engaged in the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases at the Liaoning Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention; the seventh child, Zhu Lidong, from Chongming County, Shanghai, now engaged in management work at the Chongming District Center for Disease Control and Prevention; the eighth child, myself, from Pingliang, Gansu Province City, and is now engaged in party affairs at the Gansu Provincial Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine; Laojiu Guo Wei, from Harbin City, is now engaged in management at the Heilongjiang Provincial Clinical Laboratory Center. Due to the needs of clinical internships and professional courses, our dormitories are not as static as those in engineering colleges. Instead, we have changed dormitories three times and divided them into three classes in five years, but the one that left the deepest impression is dormitory 212.
The love between classmates is as deep as the ocean, and the beautiful memories will remain in my heart. Here, I cannot recall every classmate one by one, but several classmates with special personalities are still fresh in my memory.
Wu Shuangquan, the tallest person I had ever seen, came from Heilongjiang Province, a place rich in "Wuchang Rice". He was the chairman of the student union when he entered the school. Now he is still serving as the chairman for the class reunion. Busy;
Zhang Lin, from Nanjing, the ancient capital of the Six Dynasties, has a tall and slender southern figure. She joined the party when she was in high school. After entering the school, she became the first monitor of the older class. She only hugged her when she graduated. Following the beauty's return, he returned to Nanjing hand in hand with Han Yue'e, a beautiful classmate from Mudanjiang;
Feng Zhitian, a father-son soldier, his father was an alumnus of the 12th batch in 1965, we call him an "old comrade". Because I was determined to inherit my father's legacy, I became my classmate for three consecutive years. It is rare in history for father and son to be alumni of each other. I think it is also rare in Harbin Medical University.
Zhang Yu was specially recruited to the school because he became famous in the speed skating competition for middle school students in Heilongjiang Province. He has won many honors for his alma mater. He is an all-round talent and can play, play, play and sing. Because he was grateful for the difficulty of his mother raising him alone, when he graduated, he resolutely returned to Mudanjiang with his beautiful classmate Xu Ying from Yichun Department of Dentistry;
Zhuang Yingjie, in the early 1980s, it was popular to have long hair and wear When he was wearing bell-bottom pants, the person with the longest hair in the grade could only sing the song "Meilan Meilan I Love You" while holding a guitar and shaking his long hair;
Xu Genlin is also a musician. He knows how to play the guitar without a teacher, but he never wants to show his talent in public. Instead, he hides in a corner and enjoys himself. Unexpectedly, after graduation, he gave up medicine and went into business. He followed the example of King Gou Jian of Yue, worked hard and sharpened his sword for ten years, and finally became a business elite.
Jin Qiming, who ranked first in the entire grade, was admitted to the Department of Dentistry, and is now an excellent practicing dentist in the United States;
An Fengqi, can be called a modern version of Yu Zecheng has first-class latent skills. I haven't seen him talk to anyone in five years of college. He always keeps to himself. He gives the impression to his classmates that he is very hands-on and often helps his female classmates with repairs. That's why he was selected as the Minister of Life. Unexpectedly, when I graduated, I didn’t even return to my hometown in Tianjin. Instead, I flew to Lucheng in the desert - Baotou to settle down with my beautiful classmate Gao Chunfang. It is understood that the couple is still as loving as ever.
Lou Ge, wearing a pair of highly myopic glasses, speaks fast and loudly, and is a 10,000-meter runner on the sports field, leaving Li Haibo, Lu Xiangshi, Li Xue and me far behind;
Li Jinshan and Zhang Yandong, the stars who stole the show at the art party, wrote and acted in cross talk to oust each other, still echoing in their ears;
Yang Jun and Zhong Siqing were nicknamed by their classmates As a "high and low cabinet combination", they were unknown when they were in school, but now they are doing a great job in the field of public health in their hometown;
Zhang Jifang, who lives in Harbin, was a victim of the flood in Harbin in the summer of 1987. During the summer vacation of that year, she invited several of our classmates who had not returned home from other places to visit her home. The home-cooked meal her parents cooked for us was the best meal I have ever eaten. I still talk about it to classmate Yang Shumin often;
Tian Jiang, during the same summer vacation that year, invited me to visit his hometown in Mishan, which opened my eyes to the beauty of state-owned farms on black soil. Now, whenever I see the farm scene on TV, I will think of Mishan;
Xia Zicheng comes from Yu Dafu’s hometown. Back then, I came to Bingcheng in the North from a water town in the south of the Yangtze River with Yu Dafu's masterpiece "The Sinking" in mind. His words and deeds always showed the confidence and arrogance of a young literary and artistic young man. When he graduated, he made a lot of money and brought his fellow countrymen and classmates with him to "study". "Ba" Yang Xizhen returned to Fuyang, and also followed Yu Dafu's example in extending his love story along the Fuchun River;
Liu Aimin, a fellow villager of Zheng Banqiao, and Shi Naian completed the masterpiece "Water Margin" in his hometown of Dafeng County pass". She didn't know what martial arts was when she was in school, but she became interested in Tai Chi in her late 40s. She even served as the secretary-general of the district martial arts association, making the national fitness movement famous.
What I didn’t even expect was that we would become brothers and sisters in Yang Style Tai Chi...
In addition to intense study, the students "crossed the sea and showed their magical powers", and various academic associations and amateur societies blossomed. , hundreds of birds competing for spring. Because I have done some martial arts since elementary school, when I saw the school martial arts association recruiting recruits at the entrance of the cafeteria, I was the first to sign up. From then on, the cafeteria hall, the back of the cinema, and the side of the sports field became the training ground for several of us martial arts enthusiasts. One year later, I was fortunate enough to take over the chairmanship of the Wushu Association from brother Li Xiaoming in the 27th period. Although I did not do anything earth-shattering, I spent an unforgettable time in the big family of the association. We prepared the association’s re-election conference. Li Xue, An Zhenghong, Liu Zhongchen, Yuan Xueli, Xu Genlin, etc. were all members of the preparatory team. The then president Sui Yongqi was hired as the honorary president. At the re-election conference, a martial arts competition for college students in Kazakhstan was organized The invitational tournament has gone down in history. For a time, guests gathered in the cinema and cheers filled the campus. Comrades in the martial arts meet happily and exchange skills to gain fame and reputation.
Since ancient times, the seven things to do when opening the door are "firewood, rice, oil, salt, sauce, vinegar, tea", and eating is the first. Secondly, there will be the leisure and leisure of "calligraphy, painting, music, chess, poetry and wine". When you arrive in the Northeast, you have to forget the taste of your hometown and face Northeastern foods such as sorghum rice, sauerkraut stewed vermicelli, pot-wrapped pork, ground three delicacies, and roasted tofu. Although my eating habits are different, for me, it’s not that the food tastes different, but that the food is much more expensive than in middle school. Being cash-strapped, I could only live a hard life with my pockets tightly closed. Looking back now, I don’t know how I came to be in a situation where I had to think about my next meal after my last meal.
What I remember most is the entrance education. More than 500 students gathered in the large lecture hall No. 8 to listen to the report of Vice President Wang Xiaoming. Only then did we realize that our alma mater was very famous back then. There are 6 academicians (academicians) and 5 doctoral supervisors, ranking fourth among medical schools, but now there is only one academician, the former president Yang Baofeng. The campus area ranked second among medical schools in the country after West China University of Medicine. Due to the reform of colleges and universities, our alma mater was adjusted from a ministry-affiliated institution to a provincial institution after we entered the school.
The first Spring Festival Gala in the class was held in the dormitory. Because the house was too small, the iron frame beds were dismantled. Everyone performed a show or introduced themselves. The most difficult person to understand was Lao Wu in our dormitory. According to him, what Mr. Lu Xun said was exactly the same as what he said. Although I didn’t remember everyone clearly at the first party, "A Fire in Winter" and the enthusiasm, simplicity and tolerance among classmates warmed me, illuminated me, and made me who was originally inferior, timid and nervous I quickly adapted to collective life and blended in with everyone.
Bingcheng is indeed an ice city. In winter, thousands of trees wither, the cold wind bites, and the breath turns into frost. The earth is covered with snow, dazzling, and endlessly interesting. We have snowball fights, make snowmen, and learn to skate... Although my classmates from the south can't stand the cold in Harbin, I can't. Like it very much. After every heavy snowfall, a thin layer of white snow covers the entire earth like a huge, soft woolen blanket. Standing in the white snow, it feels like you are in a legendary fairy tale world. Less than a month into school, we didn’t even know the southeast, northwest and northwest of Harbin. We didn’t even have time to appreciate the scenery of Sun Island. The heavy snow rushed into our arms. This surprised our classmates from the south who had never seen snow before. It's so satisfying. Suddenly, I thought of a poem by Cen Shen, a frontier poet from the Tang Dynasty: "The north wind blows and the white grass breaks, and the sky is full of snow in August. Suddenly, like a spring breeze coming overnight, thousands of trees and pear blossoms bloom." What a magical flying in August. Snow!
The most difficult thing about Ice City was learning to skate. It was both fun and difficult to learn. I fell down so many times. Fortunately, I was wearing thick cotton clothes and trousers, so it didn’t hurt if I fell on the ice. . The most uncomfortable thing is that the ankles are sore, the concentration is reduced, and the standing is unstable. At this time, it is easy to fall. I remember one time in a physical education class, I was walking in the opposite direction on the track, and I bumped into Shao Jing, a female speed skater who was training. If classmate Shao hadn't held me in his arms, I would have been knocked upside down. Therefore, Shao Jing is one of the few female students in the medical department who can remember her name.
In the Ice City, what cannot be forgotten is the "Harbin Ice and Snow Festival". Taking it from ice and using it, Harbin people interpret ice and snow into a romantic, exquisite, ingenious and crystal-clear artistic wonder. Harbin's ice lanterns attract thousands of tourists. During the school year, the opening of the first Ice and Snow Festival coincides with the opening of the first ice and snow festival. If you are near the water, first come first, you will be surrounded by the dreamy ice scenery, and you will be infected by the intricately carved works of art. The clever ice sculpture masters can pour new ideas into the ice and snow and give life to the ice and snow. During the coldest season in the Ice City, we will proudly invite students from other places to come to Harbin to appreciate the ice lantern art and experience the scenery of the North.
After finishing the winter in Bingcheng, we must talk about the summer in Bingcheng. Although the summer in Ice City is short, the climate is pleasant and colorful, making it a good place to spend the summer and escape the heat. The beautiful Songhua River is like a ribbon, adding infinite scenery to the city; Stalin Park stretches for more than ten miles, with tourists in the park and bright flowers on the shore. It was a business card of Harbin back then; Sun Island, a health resort surrounded by the river, has been visited every year. The once-held "Harbin Summer" concert attracted Chinese and foreign singers and musicians to perform, earning Harbin the reputation of "Northern Music City".
I will never forget the Ice City and the soaring swans; I love the Ice City and the pearl inlaid on the swan’s neck.
Harbin, this name derived from the Jurchen language "Alejin", contains the meaning of reputation and honor. The black soil gives you deep eyes; the Songhua River nourishes your beautiful heart.
Harbin, which I first came to know by listening to Zheng Xulan’s “Island on the Sun” and Wang Gang’s “Harbin at Night,” has now become my second hometown. I want to say that my alma mater is here, my youth and thoughts are here, how could I forget you - Bingcheng, Harbin!
"Qilu·Thirty Years in Review"
In the past five years in Bingcheng, happy times have filled the campus.
Leave footprints by the Songhua River, and farm books in the ivory tower.
Talking and laughing at Khotan Sun Island, taking a spring outing to Erlong Mountain.
Looking back at thirty years with many emotions, I look forward to leading a century of coquettishness.
