Original text
It is impossible to make plans and implement them for a while, but the king Bo Jia Sheng.
The noble title has been abolished since ancient times. It has been nothing more than ten thousand ministers since ancient times.
Translation
The "consultations" proposed by Jia Yi were generally implemented. Who can say that Emperor Wen despised Jia Yi?
Since ancient times, I don’t know how many dignitaries, despite their high official positions, have had their opinions abandoned by the kings.
Appreciation
This poem praises Emperor Wen of the Han Dynasty and Jia Yi, but it has a different focus from Li Shangyin's poem, and the discussion is even more different. Li's poems focus on small things to see big details, while Wang's poems ignore small details because of big things. Wang Anshi believed that Jia Yi's political strategies were basically adopted by Emperor Wen. In this case, the level of personal official position was not important; Li Shangyin's ambition was difficult to express, which was because of Jia Yi's sorrow; Wang Anshi was favored by Song Shenzong, which was because of Jia Yi's happiness. It is different experiences that produce different discussions. As far as the art of poetry is concerned, this poem is purely argumentative, with clear praise and blame, and strong contrast.
