I. Comprehensive evaluation
Among the famous talented women in the Republic of China, Lin's talents are more comprehensive than those of Xiao Hong and Zhang Ailing, and her life experience is more fortunate. She not only joined the "Crescent Society" at the earliest, but also made great achievements in poetry, novels, prose, drama, painting and translation. She almost marks the color of an era, outstanding talent, beautiful appearance, emotional life like a fairy tale in spring, happy and romantic.
In Lin's works, the architect's scientific spirit is integrated with the writer's literary temperament. Her academic papers and investigation reports not only contain rigorous scientific content, but also describe and praise the exquisite achievements of China ancient architecture in technology and art in poetic language, which makes the articles full of poetic meaning.
In literary works, the image of ancient buildings is often used as a metaphor. For example, in the poem "Deep Laughter", the sound of countless wind chimes rotating on the eaves of ancient pagodas is used as a metaphor for crisp and pleasant laughter, which is both appropriate and novel.
Because she was proficient in arts and sciences, she showed amazing talents in architecture and literary creation. In 1930s, she enjoyed the reputation of "a talented woman of a generation" and was included in 4,000 who's who books of contemporary China published at that time.
Second, the evaluation of others.
1, Xiao Gan: I heard that Yin Hui has a serious lung disease and often has to stay in bed. But she doesn't look like a patient, wearing a riding suit ... when she is talking, it is difficult for others to interrupt. Yin Hui's talkativeness is by no means the gossip of a married woman, but often a knowledgeable, insightful, sharp and agile criticism ... She never beats around the bush and is ambiguous.
No one has ever held a grudge against such pure academic criticism. I am often moved by Yin Hui's extraordinary artistic understanding. (Xiao Gan: Talented Woman Lin Yinhui)
2. Bing Xin: "She is beautiful and talented." When I compare Lin with Lu Xiaoman, I think Lin is "beautiful", but Lu Xiaoman is not. Cousins who grew up with Lin can almost describe in detail how her clothes, manners and words fascinated them. (Chen Zhongying: Lin Yinhui in People's Memory-Interview Notes)
Zhang Youyi: When she knew who Xu Zhimo loved, she once said that "Xu Zhimo's girlfriend is another lady with more complicated thoughts, more beautiful appearance and completely free feet". (Zhang Bangmei: Feet and Suit)
4. Wen Jieruo: "During the European Renaissance, there was a generalist like Leonardo da Vinci. He is a great painter, mathematician, mechanic and engineer. Lin was an outstanding and versatile figure in China during the Renaissance.
Her achievements in architecture are undoubtedly major, but she has also made achievements in poetry, novels, essays, plays and so on. "(Wen Jieruo:" Both Talent and Appearance-Lin Sidenotes ")
5. Bian: "She is a born poet, loves drama and is good at stage design, but she is a colleague of her husband Liang Sicheng, a famous architectural historian in China. On the surface, she is mainly the effective collaborator of the latter, but in fact she is his source of inspiration. " (Bian: "Inside and outside the window-Yi Lin")
Fei Zhengqing: In Shen Congwen's eyes, Lin is a "gorgeous girl", and later Xiao Li called Lin a "gorgeous artist". Wilma thinks that Lin Yin Hui "can leave his mark on any art with his keen insight".
Lin "likes excitement and admiration", which can also be confirmed by Lin's words at the literary salon.
Fei Zhengqing recalled that Lin said in her later years, "She is a writer and poet with creative talent, a woman with rich aesthetic ability and extensive interest in knowledge activities, and her communication is full of charming charm. In this family, or any occasion where she is present, all the people present always revolve around her. " (Fei Zhengqing's Memoirs of Fei Zhengqing Going to China)
7. Li Jianwu: However, it is this kind of forest that can stand the academic coldness and loneliness and the hardships and poverty of life.
Sharon, as a central figure, was surrounded by admirers like stars holding the moon. Regardless of serious illness and hardships, he and Liang Sicheng visited ancient buildings in remote and uninhabited temples. In his early years, he experienced the prosperity of famous families and was admired by everyone. During the war, he was trapped in Lizhuang, and personally took the bottle to the streets to buy oil and vinegar. When I was young, I went to England to study in the United States, which won the true meaning of eastern and western art. My English is so good that Wei Feimei is surprised. When people reach middle age, they are poor and sick, but they still insist on staying in the motherland.
This discussion about Lin caused by friends is another kind of discussion. When Li Jianwu heard that Lin was seriously ill and did not leave the motherland during the Anti-Japanese War, he said excitedly, "She is a microscope and the daughter-in-law of Liang Qichao. Later, the United States hired the couple to give lectures, but they refused on the grounds that they would stay in the motherland and suffer. " (Li Jianwu: "Lin Yinhui")
Chen Congzhou: Professor Chen Congzhou of Tongji University recalled: "She pointed at Wu Han's nose and denounced loudly. Although she had a serious lung disease and her throat was gone, she was really affectionate in expression and atmosphere. " Today, the archway has disappeared with the cultural catastrophe, but Lin's King Kong roar that day will always surround every China scholar with bloody conscience.
9. Chen: Lin should be a very special one among this group (China female dreamers). In the face of such a woman, if we still want to pester her emotions, then the philosopher Jin is said to be sincere in staying unmarried for life, which can best explain her mood.
If we still want to remember her talent, then her poems and essays, as well as the works she finished with Liang Sicheng, are not enough to show the whole of her talent, because those witty words full of intelligence and spirituality have become absolute masterpieces.
If we must remember her persistence and sincerity, then her lifelong illness and numerous ancient temples in the wilderness accompanied by Liang Sicheng's investigation are enough to prove that she is indeed a rare real woman. (Chen: "Dream Lotus Lantern Poetry: Lin")
