"Two poems to see off Lin Zifang after leaving Jingci Temple at dawn·One" original text:
When I left the West Lake, the moon was still lingering, and the lotus flowers were blooming among the willows.
The world of red fragrance is a cool country. After traveling to the southern mountains, I went to the northern mountains.
Translation:
When I walked out of the West Lake in the early morning, the waning moon was still hanging in the sky. I walked with my friend through the lotus pond and walked on the path lined with willows.
In such a cool and shaded world with red flowers everywhere, we walked through the Nanshan Mountain and then went around the Beishan Mountain.
"Two poems to see Lin Zifang off at dawn from Jingci Temple·Part 2" Original text:
After all, the scenery of West Lake in June is different from that of the four seasons.
The lotus leaves touching the sky are infinitely green, and the lotus flowers reflecting the sun are uniquely red.
Translation:
The West Lake in June is special after all. The beautiful scenery is completely different from other seasons.
The green lotus leaves connect the sky, and the vastness is endless. The red sun and lotus flowers complement each other, and the color is extremely bright and red.
Extended information:
"Two Poems to See Off Lin Zifang from Jingci Temple at Dawn" This group of poems was dated to the 14th year of Chunxi reign of Emperor Xiaozong of the Song Dynasty (1187). After Lin Zifang was promoted to Jinshi, he served as the secretary of Zhige. Yang Wanli was his superior and good friend. At this time, Lin Zifang went to Fuzhou to take up a post. Yang Wanli saw off Lin Zifang from Jingci Temple near the West Lake in Hangzhou in the early morning. He wrote this set of poems while passing by the West Lake.
The two poems express their attachment to their friend Lin Zifang in a tortuous way by describing the beautiful scenery of West Lake in June. The second of these is widely recited. The first two sentences are led by the word "after all" and flow down in one breath, which not only harmonizes the tone, but also emphasizes the unique feelings passing through the heart in an instant.
