This poem can be read in contrast to The Fisherman of Chu Ci. "Fisherman" is about Qu Yuan's wandering by the river and the river bank after his exile, with a haggard face. Everyone is confused by money and bribery, and I am the only one who is honest and self-disciplined. This is why I was exiled. " The fisherman said, "Since the world is greedy, why don't you go with the flow and make the water more turbid?" Qu Yuan replied, "Even if I jump into the river and die in the belly of a fish, I don't want to go along with the world." Tao Yuanming's "Drinking" poem draws lessons from the brushwork of "Fisherman", and also uses stories and questions and answers to show the poet's attitude of despising officialdom, being honest and clean, and his determination not to return to his official career and refuse to go with the flow.
