Dutou township government stands one kilometer west of the highway and reaches Dongjiang. The river flows from upstream to northwest to the entrance of Qingjiang River, and the water flows northward. In the late 1960s, the secondary dirt roads from Zixing to Qingjiang and Dongjiang to the exit crossed the township government. In order to build the Dongjiang Dam, no bridge was built at this ferry. After the county was built, the dam was closed to store water. This beautiful ferry, together with 25 ferries in this town and county, disappeared at the bottom of the lake forever, but emerged in the hearts of that generation of children.
My parents moved to Dutou Township in the summer of 1979. Watou is the hometown where my mother and father were born and raised. On the other side, there is a cliff painting in the Legend of Archery by General Li Guang of the Han Dynasty, which is ten feet high, with mountains, bridge opening, trees, piles of stones, and the "goo goo" sound from the water flowing back to the hole; The sun shines white on the cliff, and the shadows of various plants are reflected on the wall, just like ink painting; When the sun sets, the home leans against the sun, the outline of the cliff top is bright and dazzling, the river is backlit and cool, and there are strings of waves on the water.
There is an ancient Pterocarya stenoptera at the corner of Qingjiang River downstream of the cliff. The crown of this tree is not high, and people often pick off branches. The roots are three or four meters high, and the old and new scars are all over the body. An old man can't be old, struggling on the cliff stone of the river bank. Only by looking at the tender branches and leaves nearby can we find the true meaning of the tree. The pebble beach downhill at home extends to the downstream of Dadukou, while the mudflat on the other side is not large. The water surface is the tail of the waves under the maple tree, and the water in Qingjiang River is like a mud cow entering the sea. When it flows into the sea, there are no big waves.
The ferry is placed on the shore water surface, one corner of the triangular iron anchor is inserted into the sand to leave the ship for four or five meters, and the bamboo pole of six or seven meters is placed in the round hole of the bow plate; A paddle head is bolted to the left side of the bow one meter, and the center of the paddle is riveted with an iron ring. The paddle head can be put into the paddle head to paddle. The willow-shaped captain is twelve or thirteen meters, with stool boards nailed on both sides and more than one meter wide in the middle. Five cross arms are padded with wooden boards, and a wooden box spoon in the stern compartment is specially used to scoop the water leaked into the ship. The ferry belongs to the production team of Dutou Group, but it is managed by a special person but not by a special person. After studying all morning, I can basically control it. In the dry season, the river is not wide, so you can reach the other side with a few paddles. If the flood season comes, the boatman will be a full-time ferryman, and the villagers will receive 20 cents. When there is a flood, the ferryman will ask people to stand at the stern and collect five cents from the villagers. It takes more than a dozen people to sail and prop up the boat to hundreds of meters upstream before crossing. Every time they rowed the rapids, they would roar and push the boat to the other side.
Usually the river is less than 100 meters wide, and the ferry shuttles back and forth. It is often manipulated by transitional people on both sides of the strait. At rush hour, people are waiting for the big boat to cross the river with cars, but the aisle is full of one or two autobots, carrying loads, baskets and satchels on their backs, making the big boat crowded and colorful, and two iron bridge slabs scraping on the concrete pier "clang" and creak.
The ferry boat can carry three old liberation cars, and the wheels at both ends wear two iron plates. The lifting is controlled by the rotation of the big steel ring. The boat is pulled by a two-centimeter-long steel cable, and a foot-long wooden stick can be inserted into the steel cable to pull it. Boarding and disembarking are commanded by professional boatmen, but there is no transition during the flood. The steel cable leading the boat crossed the river from time to time to prevent the firewood in the flood from rolling up waves and flowers.
Dongjiang drifts legs and supports bamboo rafts. With this ferry, I was most impressed in three years. It is much wider and longer than a private ship. The width of the bottom plate increases the water resistance, but it swings unsteadily during the transition.
