The most important poet of the Augustan period in ancient Rome. He was born in the Andes village near Mantua in southern Gaul in the Alps in 70 BC. After receiving basic education in his hometown, he went to Rome and southern Italy to study philosophy, mathematics, and medicine. He returned to his hometown in about 44 BC and engaged in farming and poetry creation. He was born on October 15, 70 BC in the village of Anders near the city of Mantua in Northern Italy. His father was a wealthy farmer. This enabled him to get a better early education. He studied in Cremona and Milan. In 53 BC, he went to Rome to study philosophy, rhetoric and other courses. Later, due to health reasons, he returned to his hometown and focused on the study of Greek poetry. From 43 BC to 37 BC, he wrote his debut work "Bukelik" (10 pastoral songs) and won initial reputation. After that, he published many poems one after another, the most influential of which was the 12-volume poem "Init", which was deliberately imitated on Homer's epic poem. The poem describes the legendary story of the Trojan hero Aenes who drifted from Asia Minor to Italy after the city fell. The protagonist in the poem is regarded as the ancestor of the Roman dictator Caesar and the Octavian family, which has an obvious purpose of embellishment. Despite this, the poem's bizarre and tortuous plot, beautiful language, bold imagination and unabashed praise of the Roman nation still make it popular among readers and enable the author to rank among the best poets in the West.
