New Hymn 94: Leaders Go to Golgotha

The 94th hymn (new edition) is "Calvary Song".

Hymn (New Edition) is a book published by China Christian Council Press, with 408 pages and 442 poems, among which Golgotha is the 94th.

The first sentence of Golgotha is "Let's crown the king of life together", but the composer named it "Golgotha" according to the content of the poem. The lyricist Hesse is a Quaker woman in the United States.

From Quaker's traditional quiet spiritual life, she saw that the journey of life needed to bear the cross of Calvary. The burden of life strengthened her belief. Hesse began to write poems from his youth. This poem was first published in A New Poetry of Praise and Ability, and its popularity is attributed to kirkpatrick's tunes.

Introduction to the first hymn "Holy Trinity"

Many hymns put this solemn hymn praising the Trinity God in the first place. Dyke, the author of The Holy Trinity, is also an Anglican priest. His grandfather was a missionary and his father was a banker. When he was ten, he played the piano in his grandfather's church. He graduated from Cambridge University and enjoys a high reputation in the music industry. He composed 300 pieces of music.

The title of this poem is based on the revelation of the Bible and Isaiah. This poem was specially written for the worship of Holy Trinity Sunday in the eighth week after Easter. The first part lists three gods: holiness, compassion and omnipotence. The second section points out that God is past, present and eternal. The third section is the trinity of full strength, full love, full goodness and omnipotence. In the fourth quarter, heaven, earth, sea and everything praised him. Tennyson, the British poet laureate, called it "the best English hymn".
