Pinyin version of Yanmen Taishou Xing

The pinyin version of "The Journey of the Governor of Yanmen" written by Li He of the Tang Dynasty:

Black clouds are pressing down on the city and are about to be destroyed, and the light of armor opens towards the golden scales of the sun.

hēi yún yāchéng chéng yù cuī, jiǎguāng xiàng rì jīn lín kāi.

The sound of the trumpet fills the autumn sky, and the night is purple when stuffed with swallow fat.

jiǎo shēng mǎn tiān qiūsè lǐ, sài shàng yān zhīníng yè zǐ.

A half-rolled red flag is near the Yishui River, and the sound of heavy frost and cold drums cannot be heard.

bàn juǎn hóng qí lín yì shuǐ, shuāng zhòng gǔhán shēng bù qǐ.

Report your favor on the golden platform, and guide the Jade Dragon to die for you.

bào jūn huáng jīn tái shàng yì, tí xié yù lóng wèi jūn sǐ.

Translation: The enemy soldiers are rolling in like black clouds, trying to destroy the city wall; our army has been waiting hard, the sun shines on the armor, and a golden light shines. In the autumn colors, the loud military trumpets shake the heaven and earth; the blood of the soldiers turns dark purple in the dark night. The red flag was half-rolled, and the reinforcements rushed to Yishui; the night was cold and frosty, and the drums sounded dull and low. Just to repay the kindness of the king, he holds the sword in hand and regards death as home.

Creative background

There are two opinions about the year of this poem. One: This poem was written in 814 AD (the ninth year of Yuanhe reign of Emperor Xianzong of the Tang Dynasty). At that time, Emperor Xianzong of the Tang Dynasty appointed Zhang Xu as his governor and led troops to conquer the rebellion in Yanmen County. Li He improvised a poem to boost morale and composed this song "The Journey of the Grand Administrator of Yanmen".

Another theory is that according to Zhang Gu's "Youxian Advocacy" of the Tang Dynasty: Li He gave the poem scroll to Han Yu to read. This poem was placed at the beginning of the scroll, and Han Yu also appreciated it after reading it. It was in 807 AD (the second year of Yuanhe).

This poem uses bright and mottled colors to describe tragic and tragic battle scenes, which can be considered strange; but this colorful and strange picture accurately expresses the situation at a specific time and place. The scenery of the frontier and the rapidly changing war situation seem very appropriate.

The more strange and strange it is, the more novel it feels; the more realistic it is when it is appropriate; the strange and appropriate yet appropriate, thus forming a harmonious and emotional artistic conception. This is Li He's unique skill in creating poetry. What is valuable about him is also what is difficult about him.
