The shape is u-shaped. There is a stone fish sculpture in Hunan, and there is an island in the middle of the lake, which is connected with the north bank by a bridge. There is a stone boat at the southern end of the central island of the lake. There are Bell Tower, Linhuxuan, Flower Bed and edgar snow on the lakeside, and Boya Tower on the east coast.
The lake used to be supplied with water by Wanquan River, but now it is artificially stored. Ice rink in winter.
In the Qing Dynasty, it was an artificial lake in Shuchunyuan, a small Shenyang garden affiliated to Yuanmingyuan. The stone boat was built according to the stone boat in the Summer Palace. Later, the superstructure was burned down, leaving only a stone base.
In the 1920s, it became a part of yenching university, and the school asked designer henry killam murphy to plan the campus layout. This lake was named the unnamed lake by Qian Mu. 200 1, the "Unnamed Lake Yanyuan Building" by the lake was listed as a national key cultural relics protection unit.
People enter from the west gate of Peking University guarded by stone lions, and not far away, they can see a pair of beautiful China watches standing on the half-empty ground surrounded by office buildings and temples. Continue to stroll eastward, no matter which way you enter the garden space with the unnamed lake as the main body, you will feel suddenly enlightened. In the whole Yan Garden, the unnamed lake is more like a vast ocean. Under the action of light, the lake seems to have thousands of stars moored, emitting ever-changing light. On the unnamed lake, the tower shadow of the lake can be seen in the east; West can watch the sunset in the bell tower; In the south, there are mountains and lakes; The architectural shadows in the north are full of poetry and painting. Therefore, some people sum up the essence of Yan Garden as "one tower, one lake and one painting".
tower
Tower refers to the southeast of the unnamed lake, with thirteen pagodas, whose dense eaves reflect the blue waves. This well was dug by yenching university in July 1924 to meet the domestic water demand. Its water source is abundant, and its shape is modeled after Tongzhou Burning Lantern Ancient Pagoda, which is built with dense eaves in Liao Dynasty. The tower *** 13 is as high as 37 meters. Except the tower foundation, it is all made of reinforced concrete. Because this tower was mainly donated by the uncle of Bo Chen Guang, a professor of philosophy in yenching university at that time, it was named "Boya Tower".
The location of Boya Tower seems ordinary, but it is also the ingenious arrangement and careful choice of designers. Its tall tower can make its beautiful figures from different angles appear on and off campus from time to time. The tower itself can be said to be a work of turning stone into gold. As an indispensable structure for campus water supply, if it is not handled properly, it is likely to destroy the landscape. However, this water tower takes advantage of its high terrain, adopts special treatment methods in the scenic area, and adopts ingenious architectural modeling for the structure, turning disadvantages into advantages, becoming a masterpiece with highly unified use function, artistic modeling and environmental coordination. If you take the spiral staircase, you can reach the top of the tower directly. From there, you can have a panoramic view of the beautiful western hills in Beijing and be open-minded; Looking down, you can see that the lake is as clear as a mirror and the tower shadow appears. With the clear waves, it can ripple infinite poetry. No wonder Peking University calls the landscape here "the shadow of the lake and the tower".
lake
Lake refers to the unnamed lake, which is planned and arranged on the basis of the original natural water surface. According to an insider, its name was inspired by Professor Qian Mu. It can be famous for its "obscurity", but it is precisely because of the free, profound and distant thoughts of the masters who once walked on the lake that this lake and this garden gave birth to a unique aura. There is a poem that was once popular in Peking University:
The unnamed lake is an ocean,
The poet hides underwater,
If the soul is a fish,
Will jump out of the water.
The unnamed Jingchun Garden in Hubei lost its roof when the Yuanmingyuan was burned, but its wooden frame still stands proudly, and there is an ancient hanging flower door that reads "Happy life, peaceful and benevolent". How many years have passed, the trees here are still lush and the lotus pond is green, which has preserved the style of the old garden to some extent.
On the lake, people will also notice that there is a lifelike stone fish next to the stranded Zhou Shi base, which was originally a relic in front of the West Building of Yuanmingyuan. 1930, the graduates of Yanda University bought it back as a gift for their alma mater. From then on, the stone fish in Yuanmingyuan swam into the unnamed lake, jumped on the water and made its best appearance.
There is also an exquisite hexagonal bell pavilion on the hillside southwest of the lake. There are bronze bells engraved with dragon, wave and gossip patterns in the pavilion. Outside the pavilion, old trees and green branches embrace each other. They merged into one and became a simple and heavy scene in the Yan Garden. Listening to the New Year's bell has also become a major program for Peking University students to bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new year at the end of each year.
The unnamed lake is also a famous lake that poets like to recite. There is a fresh and beautiful poem written like this:
Peking University Weiming Lake
Author: Lu Li
I like standing on an island in the middle of the lake and listening to your Boeing.
Never cared that Rustin did not leave my smiling face.
Because I appreciate your shining light.
I once fantasized that I had become a goldfish, a water lily and Boyata.
In your big u-shaped arms
I realized my ignorance and insignificance.
I like to walk on the curved shore and enjoy your beautiful shadow.
Never mind that the stone boat didn't print my footprints.
Because I worship your ocean.
I once dreamed that I had become a clock pavilion, a lakeside pavilion and a flower temple.
In your weather-beaten history
I think of Qianlong and Shenyang in the Qing Dynasty.
