The position of rain in China culture

Rain is a common image of poets in past dynasties. In my impression, there are few poets whose works have not written about rain. Rain, with different modality, endows poets with different feelings, and has been in the poetry classics for thousands of years. Rain not only moistens the poet's crayons, but also moistens the reader's thoughts.

In The Book of Songs, there are songs such as "The wind and rain are like dark clouds, and chickens crow endlessly", and there are lyrics such as "I think about it today, and the rain and snow are raining". Since then, it has been raining in our poems. Han Yu said that "the rain in the sky is as slippery as crisp"; Du Fu said: "Good rain knows the season, when spring happens. Sneak into the night with the wind and moisten things silently "; Li Qingzhao sang "The phoenix tree is more rainy, and at dusk, it is dripping"; Lu You chanted, "The small building listens to the spring rain all night, and the deep alley sells apricot flowers." ...

When you open Li Shangyin's poems, you will feel wet. Hazy rain, sad rain, erratic rain, majestic rain floating between pages ... as if floating for more than a thousand years, sprinkled on your pages.

"Mo Wen Liangyuan is an old guest, and Maolin is sick like rain" ("A Word to Secretary Hu Ling")

"Moss mangroves are under the steps, and there is less sorrow in the rain." ("End of Residence")

"High-rise buildings have a warm sense of wind and rain, and short wings are not as good as groups." (Du Sixun)

"Huangling is separated from spring, and books come to autumn rain." (weeping Liu)

"Wandering in the rain, the rain hits Xiangling fifty strings." (Dream with Zheng Erxiu after Listening to the Rain on July 28th)

"Xintan doesn't understand the wishes of tourists, more like the rain at night. "(February 2nd))

"Candles divide into songs and tears, and rain sends wine boats." ("Night Drink")

"There are two red mansions facing the cold, covered by rain, and a bead curtain lamp shaking my lonely heart home." ("Spring Rain")

As long as you are willing, you can find many such poems, and you will also find it difficult to see the romantic and beautiful side of rain written by Li Shangyin. Li Shangyin's Rain mainly shows the poet's sadness. Let us feel the poet's living environment and mentality in the stormy late Tang Dynasty.

Li Shangyin lived in the declining late Tang Dynasty. He was successful as a teenager and became a scholar in his twenties. However, due to fierce party struggle and repeated exclusion, he bowed to his knees for a long time. Although he is ambitious, he can't show it. It is the poet's slight irony of dark politics. "The poor people are empty in the middle of the night, don't ask ordinary people to ask ghosts and gods." In the emotional life, sensitive and affectionate poets have also experienced the pain of many love failures. Although there was a beautiful marriage later, his beloved wife died young. These sad memories have also become a lingering pain in his heart. Political frustration, emotional entanglement and the decline of the times are all externalized into natural scenery and floating in his beautiful poems. "Rain" has become one of the most commonly used images in poets' works. He likes to use "rain" to express inner loneliness, loss, sadness, sadness and even anger.

We can also see that "rain" is often just an emotional symbol in his poems, and he rarely describes it in detail. For example, he never wrote Du Fu's poem "Sneaking into the night with the wind, moistening things silently". We also know that he has no distractions. Where is it? "Rain" is a symbol of his inner feelings.

"You ask the return date is not fixed, and it rains late in autumn pond. When * * * cuts the candle at the west window, it talks about the rain at night. " This short message to a friend in the north on a rainy night should be a classic chapter on a rainy night. Who is pregnant? Some people say it's a wife, others say that his beloved wife died at this time and he missed his friends very much. It doesn't really matter. The important thing is that they care about each other, which is enough. Man is a lonely and sensitive poet. In that teetering age, in that stormy night, they may feel more lonely than ordinary people. People always miss them in loneliness, and nostalgia seems to aggravate loneliness, just like drinking to drown one's sorrows.

"Autumn cloudy frost flies late, leaving dry lotus to listen to the rain." What interests me most is that Lin Daiyu, who lingers in the Grand View Garden, said that this is a sentence from her favorite Li Yishan poem. Perhaps it is the monotony, sadness and coldness of the raindrops on the withered lotus that make allowance for Daiyu's mood under the fence? But the Xiaoxiang Pavilion only has bamboo, not withered lotus. Daiyu could not hear the long and monotonous sound of rain and withered lotus beside the rockfall pavilion, but her sensitive heart could feel the poet's sad and lonely mood. Raindrops fell on the withered lotus and the poet's heart lake, splashing ripples round and round. Is it just acacia that fluctuates? In the autumn rain curtain, it is hazy all around, and you can hardly see a lot of things. This is a poem.

"Now the yellow leaves shake with the strong wind, but the orchestral fiddling makes the blue house jubilant." The world is full of wind and rain, as if the world had become a stormy world. In the brothel filled with orchestral music, people who pour shallow water and whisper, holding soft jade fragrance are full of people, and they can't feel the wind and rain! What can feel the wind and rain is trees, grass and yellow leaves, and of course, the depressed and ambitious poet who can't display it. The poet consciously is a yellow leaf, fluttering and roaring in the wind and rain. Everything is the will of the wind and the will of the rain.

When reading Li Shangyin's poems, there will always be a permanent impression in my mind, that is, a thin poet, walking alone in the wind and rain, with fallen leaves sprinkled on his thin body. Rain is the background of Li Shangyin's poetry and life. The rain in his poems will never be as warm and pleasant as that in Han Yu's works.

At that time, the Tang Empire was already in turmoil.
