Exodus 23 Keep this festival and keep God's promise.

..... This chapter talks about God's requirement that Israel observe the festival three times a year and appear before God. Remember God's promise to them.

First, about interpersonal relationships-there are beautiful witnesses (1-9)

1. Voice 1-3

A. don't spread rumors:

Don't make rumors with friends.

..... Rumor: This is an incredible story made out of nothing. Psalm 15, verse 3 says: Don't slander others with your tongue, don't be unkind to your friends, and don't slander your neighbors with your companions. From this perspective, rumors also contain slander.

..... Gossip, slander and false testimony not only destroy families, hinder cooperation, but also disrupt the fair system; Gossiping will cause disputes. Even if you don't tell a lie, you will be blamed if you tell it to others. So don't make a rumor, let it stop at your place, and don't spread it again.

B. Don't commit perjury:

..... Don't join hands with the wicked and give false testimony. Do evil without conformity, do litigation without conformity, and testify against justice.

Article 9 of the Ten Commandments says: You shall not bear false witness against others. (for example. 20: 16) In the sixth chapter of Proverbs, section 16- 19, it is recorded that one of the seven things that the Lord hates is: "Those who lie, give false testimony, and spread disputes among their brothers.

C. don't be partial to the poor:

Or take sides with the poor in disputes.

People will favor the rich and lose justice, but these two verses tell people not to favor the poor and cause injustice. It is fair to treat the rich and the poor equally.

2. Love 4-6

A. don't turn a blind eye:

First, if you find your enemy's cow or donkey lost, always bring it back to him.

Second, if you see a donkey of someone who hates you lying under a heavy load, don't go away. Be sure to lift heavy objects with your master.

This paragraph is asking people to forgive their enemies. Don't be unkind to the enemy's livestock. If the livestock is loaded, help the owner to lift the load and let the livestock get up. If the livestock is lost, it should be returned to its owner and brought back to its owner. To do so is to love the enemy. 12:20-2 1).

B. don't damage integrity:

Do not compromise integrity in the disputes of the poor.

The poor who turn right from wrong will be cursed by the law (Deuteronomy 27: 19) and will also be judged (Mar. 3:5, Isa. 10: 1-2).

3. Behavioral aspects 7-9

A. don't kill innocent people:

When you stay away from the false things. Don't kill innocent people.

Deuteronomy 27: 25 says: Cursed is he who kills the innocent! Because God will never make the guilty innocent (Exodus 34:7, Hong 1:3).

B. unacceptable bribery:

C. don't bully others:

You shall not oppress a stranger,

* * * The Lord Jesus clearly taught us to help people (Luke 10:30-37), even enemies.

It is not easy for us to treat our friends fairly. If we can treat our enemies with God's fair and loving laws, it will certainly show how different we are from this world.

Scripture: Do to others what you don't want them to do to you. If you only love those who love you, what is your reward? Even sinners love those who love them. If you treat those who treat you well, what is your reward? Even sinners. (Road 6:3 1-33)

2. Worship in Rest-Celebration (10- 19)

1. Rest in peace 10- 13

A. this land will rest in peace:

For six years, you should cultivate fields and collect local products; But in the seventh year, let the land rest, do not cultivate, do not cultivate, and give food to the poor among your people. The rest of them can be eaten by wild animals. So do your vineyards and olive groves.

This is the Sabbath of God, which shows the hidden grace in the law. 25:3-7, Luke 4: 18). Hallelujah!

B. Rest after work:

Six days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest, so that the ox and the donkey may rest, and the son of your handmaid and the stranger may relax.

Here, it is emphasized that the seventh day will benefit working male and female servants, foreigners and livestock, which only means that Christ gives freedom (Gal. 5: 1).

C. rest in peace:

Remember everything I told you. Do not mention the names of other gods, and do not let them come out of your mouth.

If you live a peaceful life in Christ, don't worship idols, that is, you can't even mention the names of other gods, let alone tell stories about idols from Christians.

2. During the festival 14- 17

A. Feast of Unleavened Bread: This festival and Passover belong to the same festival (Exodus 12: 15, Luke 22: 1).

This passage can predict the suffering of the Lord Jesus and die to bear our sins.

B. observing the harvest festival: this section includes the first harvest festival and Pentecost. 23: 10- 16), also known as Chinese Valentine's Day (Ex. 34:22, Shen 16:9- 10).

This verse predicts the resurrection and ascension of the Lord Jesus, and sends the Holy Spirit to show that we are justified and sanctified in the Lord Jesus.

C. Gathering Festival: This festival includes "Horn Blowing Festival", "Yom Kippur Day" and "Shed Festival". Because the time is July, and it is connected (Lev. 23:23-34). This section can represent several steps taken by the Lord Jesus to establish the country. For example, the salvation of saints, the return of voters, the realization of heaven and so on. Spiritual training requires us to have a victorious life, and life is hidden with Christ (Col. 3:3-4).

3. Sacrifice 18- 19

A. Provisions on sacrifice:

Do not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leavened bread, and do not leave the fat of my sacrifice until morning.

First of all, you should not donate blood with leavened bread (exodus 34:25, Leviticus. 2: 1 1). Spiritual training: Hebrews 10, section 29: How much more, how serious do you think a man will be punished for trampling on the son of God, treating the blood of the Covenant that sanctifies him as ordinary, and insulting the blessed Holy Spirit?

Second, don't leave the festival fat until morning. Spiritual training: Love the Lord when you can, and don't keep the best part for yourself (Matthew. 26:7, Acts 5: 1-3).

B. requirements for product delivery:

Bring the firstfruits of the earth to the house of the Lord your God.

When offering crops, it must be the first ripe crops (Leviticus 2: 12, Leviticus 23: 10, Deuteronomy 26:2, 10, Ner 10:35), and God gave these crops to the priests (Min.

C. it is forbidden to cook goats:

Don't cook a goat with its mother's milk.

This is the ritual custom of the Canaanites, with the purpose of asking their god of reproduction to make the fields fertile. Therefore, God forbids Israel to learn from the customs of foreigners. His spiritual teaching is to sanctify us from the world (1 Peter. 4:3-4, Ephesians 4:20-24) Today, strict Jews still refuse to cook the meat and milk in the same pot. In addition, they eat meat without cream seasoning.

Application: Is Sabbath Commandment feasible in today's busy urban society? What is the original intention of the Sabbath? How should Christians apply this commandment when they use Sunday instead of Sabbath? What are the advantages and disadvantages of regular worship or prayer?

Scripture: On the first day of the week, when we broke bread, Paul talked with them until midnight, because he was leaving the next day. There are many lights and candles in the building where we met. (Acts 20:7)

3. Serve in faith-remember God's promise (20-33)

1. Protection 20-23

This "messenger" appears in 14 19, which refers to the lingshi "Christ". 10:4). In the Old Testament, the Lord Jesus Christ often appeared as a messenger (Judges 13: 18), which was closely related to God's voters.

A. protection during travel:

Behold, I send an angel before you to protect you on the way and bring you to the place I have prepared.

B. listen to him:

He has come in my name, so be careful before him, listen to him and do not provoke him, for he will not forgive your transgressions.

Listening to God's word is better than all sacrifices, and those who don't listen can't forgive their sins (Exodus 34:7, Book 24: 19-20, Hebrews 2: 1-3).

C. defeating the enemy:

If you really listen to him and do everything I say, I will be your enemy and your enemy.

This means that those who are willing to listen to the words of the "messenger" will surely defeat all their enemies.

D. there is a messenger ahead:

My angel will go before you and lead you to the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites and Jebusites, and I will cut them off.

Because this "messenger" is also "the marshal of the Lord's army" (Book 5: 13- 14, Heb. 2: 10, Luo. 8:37), it can help us defeat the enemy! Hallelujah.

2.24-26 serve

A. serving false gods suffers;

You shall not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do you imitate their deeds, but you shall tear down their gods and smash their sacred pillars.

First, there are three things you can't do with idols: don't bow your head; No service; Not to be imitated. (Exodus 34: 13, Numbers 33:52, Deuteronomy 7:5, 12:3)

Second, the way to deal with idols: completely overthrow; Break the cylinder image and clean it up.

B. it is blessed to serve the true god;

Serve the Lord your God, and he will bless your bread and water, and he will remove diseases from among you. There is no abortion or barren in your territory, and I will satisfy your days.

First, give food and water. Psalm 78: 15-25, about 6:35.

Second, get rid of the disease. Out of 15:26, Shen 7: 15, but 16: 17.

Third, life is rich. Shen 7: 13- 14, about 10: 10.

3. Drive out 27-3 1

A. make the enemy turn and flee;

Wherever you go, I will frighten all the people there before you, and I will turn all your enemies to flee.

B. let the wasp drive away the enemy:

I will send wasps ahead of you and drive out the Hivites, Canaanites and Hittites.

C. gradual inheritance of property:

I will not drive them away from you within a year, lest the land become desolate and wild animals multiply against you. I will gradually drive them out from before you until you increase in number and inherit the land.

Chuang 15: 18, Shen 1 1:24, Shu1:4,21:44, Lu19:/kloc-.

D. Expanding the land boundary:

I will set your boundaries from the Red Sea to the Sea of the Philistines, and from the wilderness to the river. I will give the inhabitants of the land into your hands, and you will drive them out from before you.

4. Covenant 32-33

When Israel was in Egypt, idols and magicians were everywhere; However, leaving there does not mean that they will not be influenced by pagan customs. In Canaan, they will also be infected by idols. God knows that his people need to pay attention to their lives, so he has repeatedly stressed the need to prevent pagan customs. (Note: Spiritual Bible)

A. do not make a Covenant with other gods;

Do not make a Covenant with them or their gods. (Exodus 34: 12, Deuteronomy 7:2)

The law forbids the people of Israel to make an agreement with foreign gods, and in order to avoid assimilation with foreign sins and customs, they are trapped in it (Book 23: 12- 13, People 33:55, Judges 2:3). In today's conflict of belief principles, we must attach importance to faith.

B. don't let your enemies live together;

They shall not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against me.

This is holy, not to be mixed with foreigners and pagans, nor to compromise with sin.

C. don't use false gods to enter the network;

If you serve their gods, it will be a snare to you.

Application: Today, we live among people with different values and outlook on life. God wants us to show him in life. The way of life of Christians is different from the standards of the world, and contradictions are inevitable. In our life, the first thing to pay attention to is "obeying God", not "winning the praise and joy of the world".

Scripture: Serve the LORD your God, and he will bless your bread and water, and he will remove diseases from among you. (for example. 23:25)
