Creative background:

1992, the lyricist of this song, Jiang Kairu, saw a long short message "Spring in the East" in the newspaper, reporting the rapid development of Shenzhen. So Jiang Kairu wanted to see Shenzhen on the spot and went to Shenzhen alone.

Jiang Kairu, who arrived in Shenzhen, was infected by the scene before him, so he decided to stay in Shenzhen and found a job in an entrepreneur art troupe in Shenzhen. During this period, he had a feeling and wrote this song on the morning of 1992 12 16.

Because of Jiang Kairu's personal background, kindness, respect and gratitude to Deng Xiaoping, he called Deng Xiaoping "an old man" in his lyrics, and because when Jiang Kairu first arrived in Shenzhen, Shenzhen was surrounded by barbed wire, he described the creation of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone as "drawing a circle".

On March 7th, 1993, the lyrics of this song were published in Shenzhen Special Zone Daily. Jiang Kairu took a newspaper and asked the composer Wang Yougui to compose music. Wang Yougui refused on the grounds that the language format of the lyrics was difficult to express in music, but Jiang Kairu did not give up. He sends the lyrics to Wang Yougui every once in a while.

1994, Jiang Kairu found Wang Yougui again after learning that Guangdong Province would hold a youth song creation contest, and Wang Yougui recited the lyrics repeatedly in Xiang dialect, and gained inspiration in the process. An hour and a half later, they finished the first draft of The Story of Spring.
