How do tree rings tell the direction?

The dense pattern is in the north and the dense pattern is in the south. Take the northern hemisphere where we grow as an example, the light in the south is the strongest, and trees need light for photosynthesis. The side with strong light grows faster, so the annual rings are larger.

Orientation skills in life:

1. Look at the direction of the sun. The sun rises in the east, sets in the west, and travels from east to west from morning till night. We can judge the position of the sun according to the time point and then judge the direction.

If there is a compass, the red pointer points to the north.

3. Observe the shadows. When the shadow faces west in the morning, the direction of the sun is the east.

4. In China, buildings often have the design habit of sitting north facing south, and the door faces south. When you see an ancient building, you can judge it by this method.

5. The south is easily exposed to sunlight, and the ice and snow melt faster.
