Introduction to Jiang Yan

Touring Huangbo Mountain ① Jiang Yan What is the end of long-term hope? Minyun even crosses the border. There are many strange things in Nanzhou, and there are many immortals in Chi County. ② The golden peaks each lose the sun, ③ the bronze and stone peaks touch the sky. Yangxiu illuminates the luancai, and the Yinxiu spurts the dragon spring. ④ Broken sails and thousands of trees, ⑤ Eternal smoke. ⑥ Birds sing on the red wall, and apes roar among the green cliffs. Emperor Mu Yin of Qin fell, but Wu Yuan of Han Dynasty lived for many years. They all bear great power and abandon their swords to become famous mountains. What's more, I have sunflowers and wild ambitions, and pine trees are in front of me. ⑦ It’s better to be as distant as you are, and the wind will carry you leisurely.

The author was born in 444-505, courtesy name Wentong, from Kaocheng, Jiyang (now Lankao, Henan). He came from a lonely and humble background, was quiet and studious, and became famous for his articles in his early years. He served as an official in the Song, Qi and Liang dynasties. During the reign of Emperor Wu of the Liang Dynasty, he reached the rank of Jin Ziguanglu and was granted the title of Marquis of Liling. His poems are elegant and exquisite, and he is especially good at imitating ancient times. The style of his poems and poems is clear and elegant, with high artistic quality. Two volumes of "Jiang Liling Collection" are now handed down.

Notes ① Huangbo Mountain: Located in the west of Fuqing City, Fujian Province, Jiang Yan was once demoted to the magistrate of Jian'an (now Jianou County, Fujian Province) by Jianping King Liu Jingsu and was allowed to visit this mountain. This article describes the extremely beautiful natural scenery, which shows one aspect of the author's poetic talent. ②Chixian: The representative name of China, the abbreviation of "Chixian Shenzhou". ③Jinfeng: Huangbo Mountain has twelve peaks. Because it is golden in color due to sunlight, it is described as "Golden Peak". Waning sun: means covering part of the sun. ④Longquan: There are nine "Longtan" places in Huangbo Mountain. ⑤杌: A tree without branches. ⑥廧崒: Unknown. It is suspected that "廧" is replaced by "巷", and "巷崒" means tall and majestic appearance. See Ban Gu's "Xidu Fu". ⑦Kui Huozhi; he said he was willing to be poor. The author's poem "Zaxiu" says: "When you are rich, you should never forget your poverty, and the way is in Kuihao." Pine wood and rosin roots are both used for medicinal purposes and are eaten by those who practice immortality.

Comments: This is a piece of high-spirited work. The poet climbed the mountain and looked into the distance. He saw clouds on the horizon, which connected the two sides together, making it difficult for his eyes to pass through. This time, the eyes looking towards the road faintly revealed the poet's heavy mood after being demoted. I couldn't bear to look back on my life, so I turned my attention to Huangbo Mountain where I was. First, he made a general overview and pointed out that Fujian and Zhejiang are full of strange mountains, forests, and gods. Then he used meticulous brushstrokes to describe one by one the steep peaks blocking the sun, the deep caves reflecting the light, the secluded fountains, the thousand-year-old trees, the mist of all generations, and the birds. Scenes such as the roaring apes. This long description is not only rich in words and images, but also colorful. The "gold" and "copper" of the rocks, the "luancai" of the light reflected in the cave, the red of the Danyan, the green of the green cliff, and the white of the spring mist are all gathered in The pen highlights the strangeness of Huangbo Mountain. In the second half of the poem, the poet naturally transitions from "thousand generations of wood" and "eternal smoke" to thinking about social life. Emperor Qin and Emperor Wu of Han were so powerful in those days. They even admired the immortals and famous mountains. What’s more, I have long had the ambition to be indifferent. Today’s trip to Huangbo Mountain is a rare opportunity in life. Why should I be unhappy about being demoted? The poet used broad-minded words to express his feelings and sublimated the feeling of visiting Huangbo Mountain to the realm of life, which fully reflects Jiang Yan's poetic style of describing scenes and expressing emotions.
