Read Psalm 134 on September 3, 2020

Psalm 134:1 Bless the LORD, you servants of the LORD who stand in the house of the LORD by night!

Psalm 134:2 Lift up your hands toward the sanctuary and bless the Lord!

Psalm 134:3 May the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth, bless you from Zion!

Meditation:

The work of a watchman is both ordinary and important. You and I are just ordinary people, but if God wants to use you, are you willing?

134:1-3 This psalm is about a very small tribe of Levi. Levi was a temple watchman ("the servant of the Lord who stood in the temple of the Lord by night"). Singing this psalm, the last "Ascending Psalm" (Psalms 120-134), the worshipers climbed to the temple on the mountain and saw the watchmen who guarded the temple day and night. They viewed the work of watchmen as an act of praise to God because they were not only reverent but also responsible. We must make our work and responsibilities in the church an act of praising God, and when we do it, we must fear God and glorify God with high-quality work and an attitude of service.
