Evaluation of Lei Feng

After he died in the line of duty, on January 7, 1963, the Ministry of National Defense named his class "Lei Feng Class". On March 1, 1963, Zhu De wrote an inscription: "Learn from Lei Feng and be a good soldier of Chairman Mao." On March 5, 1963, Comrade Mao Zedong wrote an inscription in his own handwriting: "Learn from Comrade Lei Feng." Liu Shaoqi wrote an inscription: "Learn from Comrade Lei Feng, who is ordinary and great. "The communist spirit." Zhou Enlai wrote: "Learn from Comrade Lei Feng: a clear class stance, a revolutionary spirit that is consistent in words and deeds, a communist style that is selfless, and a proletarian fighting spirit that does not care about one's own safety." Since then, there has been an upsurge among people across the country, especially young people, to learn from Lei Feng. Since then, March 5th every year has become a day for all people to learn from Lei Feng. Lei Feng was a great communist fighter and a model of serving the people wholeheartedly.

Dong Biwu, an older generation revolutionary, wrote a poem in February 1963 to praise Lei Feng:

Many people read Mao’s Selected Works, and Lei Feng was particularly serious.

Not only the words are clear, but also the spirit is gained.

A clear view of class and a simple concept of labor.

The screws are stainless and the historical color is always new.

If you just do ordinary things, you will become a giant.
