Today is New Year's Eve, and the sound of "scratching" can be heard everywhere outside. We also went downstairs with dad to set off fireworks. Dad first put the fireworks on the ground and lit the fuse with the jacquard machine. Fireworks went straight into the sky like bullets, scattering many small colored "fire beans" from the sky, like chrysanthemums dropping petals from the sky. How beautiful!
Just as we were happy, I asked a question: "Why are there fireworks?" So, my father told me: "There used to be a legend that a monster named Xi harassed the world on this day, and setting off fireworks could scare it away so that it wouldn't disturb the world, so today is also called New Year's Eve."
