Han Yu's Poems about Chaozhou 1. Poems written by Han Yu after he was demoted to Chaozhou
The poem written by Han Yu after he was demoted to Chaozhou is "Moving Left to Languan to Show His Grandnephew Xiang".
Moving Left to Lan Guan to Show My Grandnephew Xiang is a seven-tone poem written by Han Yu, a writer in the Tang Dynasty, on his way to relegate Chaozhou. This poem expresses the author's inner feelings of depression and anger, as well as his uncertain future.
The first couplet was convicted of "a letter (book)" and was demoted. It was just "morning and night", which shows that Long Yan was furious and was eight thousand miles away from the capital. Zhuan Lian wrote the book "Eliminating the evils", expressing his indignation that he was guilty of loyalty and was far from guilty.
The necklaces are lyrical on the spot, which is both sad and strong; The tail couplet expresses the hero's ambition, expresses the feelings of flesh and blood, and the sadness is beyond words. The whole poem is a fusion of narration, scenery description and lyricism, with rich poetic flavor, real feelings and sharp contrast, and is a fine work in the seven laws of Korean poetry.
The whole poem:
A letter plays nine heavens in the morning and eight thousand in Chaozhou Road in the evening.
if you want to get rid of the evils for the holy dynasty, you are willing to decline and cherish the old age!
where is yunheng Qinling's home? The snow held the horse back.
I know that you should be interested in coming from afar, so that I can collect my bones by the river.
Translation:
In the morning, I played an admonition to the court, and in the evening, I was banished to Chaozhou, 8, miles away from Beijing.
I wanted to get rid of those harmful things for the emperor, but I didn't care about my decaying body and the rest of my life!
Dark clouds are hanging over the Qinling Mountains. Where can my hometown be? The heavy snow jammed the blue pass and the horse refused to move forward.
I know you have come a long way with other intentions, and you just collected my bones by the Gangjiang River.

1. Creative background
In the 14th year of Tang Yuanhe (819), Tang Xianzong ordered eunuchs to welcome a phalanx of the so-called Buddha of Sakyamuni into the palace from the Famen Temple in Fengxiang, and sent it to various temples for worship.
Han Yu, then assistant minister of punishments, saw this kind of Buddhist behavior, so he wrote an article "admonishing and welcoming Buddha's bones". Persuade and stop Tang Xianzong, pointing out that Buddhism is not good for the country, and since the Eastern Han Dynasty, emperors who believe in Buddhism have been short-lived. As a result, Tang Xianzong was angered and Han Yu was almost executed.
After interceding with Pei Du and others, Han Yu was finally demoted to Chaozhou secretariat, and asked to go to the road that day. Han Yu wasted most of his life as an official, and only at the age of 5 was he promoted to assistant minister of punishments for his participation in Pinghuai. Two years later, I suffered this difficulty again, and my mood was very low, full of frustration, indignation and sadness.
Chaozhou governs Chaoyang in the east of Guangdong, which is thousands of miles away from Chang 'an, the then capital. Han Yu was alone and hurried on his way. When he reached Lantian Pass, his wife and children had not caught up with him, only his grandnephew followed him, so he wrote this poem.
second, appreciation
from the ideological point of view, this poem and "admonishing the Buddha's bones and bones", one poem and one article, can be called a double wall, which can well show the progressive side of Han Yu's thought. As far as art is concerned, this poem is a masterpiece among the seven laws of Korean poetry. Its characteristics are "depressed and frustrated" as commented by Long, and its style is similar to that of Du Fu.
Depression refers to his style and deep depression, while frustration refers to the subtlety of his technique: his brushwork is vertical and horizontal, and his opening and closing are turbulent. Such as "playing in the morning", "declining in the evening", "nine heavens" and "eight thousand roads", are in sharp contrast and highly summarized.
from the beginning, there is a tendency to build a strategic position. Three or four sentences use "flowing water pairs", and the fourteen characters form a whole, which closely follows the above, making people feel natural. Five or six sentences jump open, write lyrical scenery, "clouds and snow embrace", and the realm is vast.
the words "horizontal" width and "embracing" height are both very powerful. Therefore, the whole poem is magnificent, and it can produce shocking power.

Move left to Languan to show my grandnephew Xiang a letter that plays in the sky for nine days and belittles Chaoyang Road for eight thousand in the evening.
if you want to eliminate evils for the wise, you will be willing to decline and cherish the old age! Where is the home of Yunheng Qinling? The snow held the horse back. Is it okay to know that you should be interested in coming so that you can collect my bones by the river? A great literary master, Han Yu, was banished from Chaozhou, Guangdong Province for opposing the worship of Buddha's bones, and his family members were driven away from Chang 'an, and his youngest daughter was lost. With grief, he wrote a famous seven-melody "Moving Left to Languan to Show My Grandnephew Xiang": one letter played in the morning and eight thousand in Chaozhou Road in the evening.
if you want to eliminate evils for the wise, you will be willing to decline and cherish the old age. Where is the home of the Qinling Mountains? Snow holds the blue horse back.
I know that you should be interested in coming from afar, so that I can collect my bones by the river. "A letter plays nine heavens in the morning" refers to the fact that in the first month of the fourteenth year of Yuanhe (819), Tang Xianzong sent someone from the Famen Temple in Fengxiang (now Fengxiang County, Shaanxi Province) to welcome the Buddha's bones to the palace for worship, which immediately caused a sensation. "Young and old people rushed around and abandoned their careers." People gave up their normal careers, some went to Fengxiang with all their money, knelt down to greet them, or even some people cut off their arms.
At that time, no one dared to say no to the emperor's decision that caused social chaos, but Han Yu, assistant minister of punishments, stepped forward and wrote a book on the Buddha's Bone Table. This paper is well-founded and well-defined: First of all, in the ancient times and the Shang and Zhou Dynasties, the sages and sages were all 1 years old, the world was at peace, and the people were happy. "However, there was no Buddha in China" and "it was not because of the Buddha"; Then contrast, Buddhism was introduced after the Han Dynasty, but the reign of Emperor Hanming was only eighteen years. Since then, it has been "chaos and death one after another, and luck is not long". There is only one "Liang Wudi was in office for forty-eight years, giving his life to Buddha three times before and after, offering sacrifices to the ancestral temple, without having to be imprisoned, eating food day by day, and stopping at vegetables and fruits."
Later, Hou Jing forced him to starve Taicheng, and the country was also destroyed. It is even more unfortunate to do things for the Buddha. "
Tang Xianzong, isn't this a curse? He flew into a rage and decided to condemn Han Yu to death. Thanks to the intercession of Prime Minister Pei Du, Minister Cui Qun and other officials, he was finally spared the death penalty, but he was demoted to Chaozhou, Guangdong Province, which was more than 7,6 miles away from the capital. At that time, there was a wild place and a miasma plague was prevalent, which was a place with little hope of survival. This is the "eight thousand of Chaozhou Road in the evening". In order to get rid of the absurd things that waste people and money for the emperor, and "want to eliminate evils for the sake of holiness", the emperor is confused and fatuous again, and the ministers of the current dynasty have to say that he is sage, and there are "sage", "sacred valor" and "willing to cherish my declining years" in the table. How can he cherish my declining years? At this time, Han Yu is 52 years old.
Han Yu stuck to Confucian orthodoxy all his life, and opposed the worship of Buddhism, especially the promotion of Buddhism by imperial decree. This time, he risked his life to live and work in peace and contentment in order to prevent social chaos. Therefore, although he was indignant, he had no regrets. When he went to Lantian County, not far from the capital, his nephew Han Xiang came with him to protect him from going south.
"Snow holds the blue horse back", it seems that the mountain was closed by heavy snow in the Shaanxi Plateau at that time. "The horse is not moving forward" comes from the ancient Yuefu's "driving the horse to the shady mountain, and the mountain is high and the horse is not moving forward". At this time, it is blue and snowy. At this time, Han Yu has both the spirit of firmly believing that he is not wrong, old and strong, and unyielding, and the grief and indignation of paying a painful price.
"Where is the home of Yunheng Qinling Mountain?" Qinling Mountain refers to Zhong Nanshan. Looking back at Qinling Mountain, I can't see where the home is. In the Tang dynasty, the decree was demoted, and you had to go to the city immediately. You were not allowed to bid farewell to your family, and then your family was sent out of Beijing.
What Han Yu is most worried about is his little daughter, who is only 12 years old and is weak and sick. Can she withstand the fear of evil officials and the fatigue of the journey? Sure enough, the child left Chang 'an soon, and died in the layer peak post in Shangxian County, Shaanxi Province, and it was impossible for the father and daughter to meet each other when they died. Old people lost their children, and white-haired people sent black-haired people. Later, Han Yu wrote in a crying woman's work: "Depress Chaozhou secretariat for sin and take the post; Later, the family was also condemned, and my daughter died, and the funeral floor was next to the mountain. "
There are clouds and snow, and the realm is vast and magnificent, but behind it is such a tragic story. The couplet "Knowing that you have come far should be intentional, so that you can collect my bones from the riverside" is painful and steady. In Zuo Zhuan's Thirty-two Years of Xi Gong, the old minister, Uncle Jian, sometimes cried: "It's time to die, but I can't collect my bones." Han Yu used allusions to calmly explain the aftermath to his grandnephew and revealed his unspeakable anger.
This poem and On the Table of Buddha's Bones, with one poem and one article, can be called a double gem, which embodies Han Yu's thoughts and feelings of caring for the country and loving the people. Han Yu set out on the 14th day of the first month and arrived in Chaozhou on March 25th, which took 71 days. We figured out that he had to walk more than 1 Li a day on average. (This was regulated in the Tang Dynasty, when the official was demoted for 3 Li a day, "Zi Zhi Tong Jian" said that "there are many people who are demoted", but it was later relaxed. )
For a 52-year-old man in ancient times, such a long migration journey was too heavy and cruel. According to the records, when he arrived in Chaozhou, he was dying because of the tiring journey and acclimatization. When he was dying, he was cured after taking a local herb, Dendrobium candidum, known as the fairy grass on earth.
Han Yu recorded his experiences and feelings along the way with his poems. The trip to Dongwuguan, Shangluo County, coincided with the exile of Tubo prisoners in the south. The poet intoned: The people of Errong are not miserable, and Hunan is close to ensuring the whole life.
I'm so guilty today that I have no hope of returning. I'll go straight to Chang 'an Road for eight thousand yuan. Although there is a feeling that he is not as good as a prisoner here, isn't it comforting those prisoners? After crossing the water, the poet knew the sinister of Chaozhou from the mouth of the official: three thousand miles down here, a state began to become famous.
evil streams are full of poison, and lightning is often fierce. Crocodiles are bigger than boats, but their teeth are afraid to kill them.
before he arrived in Chaozhou, he began to understand the sufferings of the people there. Sure enough, as soon as Han Yu arrived, the first thing he set out to do was to expel crocodiles from the evil stream that had long endangered the lives and property of Chaozhou people.
This story is not only handed down by Han Yu's "Sacrifice to Crocodiles", but also recorded in the old and new Tang books. However, when we read it, it is a bit like a myth: it belongs to Qin Ji and wishes him with a sheep and a dolphin thrown into the stream: "... I have been an official since I was born, so I have to distinguish it from crocodiles. Crocodiles know, and they listen to the history of thorns.
In the tidal state, the sea is in the south, the whales are huge, the shrimps and crabs are small, and they can't be returned. They live on food, and crocodiles come and go. Today, I made an appointment with the crocodile: in three days, he led the ugly people to migrate south to the sea to avoid the life of the emperor.
not for three days, until five days; Not for five days, not for seven days, not for seven days, but for the last time, I refused to move ... The secretariat chose skilled people and used strong bows and poisonous arrows to engage with crocodiles.
