1 Personal Album
Jin Wulin’s album "Paradise Lost" is China’s first A piece of serious music in the traditional sense.
As a child, Jin Wulin often won prizes in piano competitions and was hailed as a "music prodigy." He also performed for the then central leader Zhou Enlai and other international friends such as Sihanouk. Later, after graduating from junior high school, he took a boat from Dalian to Shanghai and applied for the piano composition and conducting departments of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. His genius, musical ability and straightforward personality made Sang Tong, the teacher and dean of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music at the time, particularly fond of him, allowing him to pass the test smoothly. He was admitted to the Department of Piano Composition and the Department of Conducting respectively. He is the first double major student in an art college specially approved by the Ministry of Culture in New China.
Before going to college, he worked as a music assistant for the famous Chinese conductor Mr. Li Delun in the Central Orchestra.
I once collaborated in music production and creation in Guangzhou with Bi Xiaoshi, Lao Zai, Zhang Quanfu, Xie Chengqiang, Liu Xinru and other pioneers of Lingnan music at that time
In 1994, he came to Beijing and discovered and launched Wenqing The talented girl Mag's "Girl and Quartet" quickly became popular all over the country, especially in the music circles of Hong Kong and Taiwan, which attracted great attention.
The solo album "Paradise Lost" was published in 1995, which was a blockbuster for the music industry. One of the biggest features of Jin Wulin's album "Serious Music: Paradise Lost" is that it uses complex elements and uses them appropriately. Music includes symphony, model opera, death, folk songs, art rock, etc. The lyrics incorporate a lot of surrealist literature, and the bel canto harmonies of "Paradise Lost" are perfectly matched, and the grandeur of the chorus further accentuates the grandeur of the music. This album was released very early. I believe friends who have never heard it will sigh at the exquisiteness of the art at that time and appreciate the creativity of the musicians. This album must be it!
Among the most talented musicians in China, Jin Wulin is the one who has suffered the most unfair treatment. As Milan Kundera said, speed is directly proportional to forgetting. In the past two years, everyone has been busy welcoming new excitement. Jin Wulin and his "Serious Music" were forgotten in this way, and he did not even get enough comments. Even if it is criticism, it is unfair to him.
This album recorded by Jin Wulin in 1995 can make countless musicians impeccable and create a grand art rock scene with instrumentation, melodies and lyrics that are still quite alternative today. It sounds today and will also impress many people in the rock industry!

Wulin suddenly disappeared from people’s sight. Some people speculated that he had gone abroad. In fact, he was a real hermit living in seclusion deep in the city, staying grounded, reading, watching movies, thinking and discussing, and breaking through his self-awareness. Actively preparing, brewing a bigger music plan, amidst various expectations...
In 2007, a famous American music producer Keith heard the song "Start" he produced for Ding Wei. Olsen invited him to visit the United States. Keith Olsen is the vice chairman of the American Grammy Production Jury. He visited a large number of American musicians' studios in the United States, including the outstanding guitarist Tim Pierce (born in 1959 in Albuquerque). Guitarist. He has worked for many well-known artists, such as Rick Springfield, Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Patty Smith, Joe Cocker, Michael Jackson, Joan Armatrading, Madonna, Tina Turner, Rod Stewart, Roger Waters, Ricky Martin, Celine Dion, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Alice Cooper, Shakira, Carlos Santana, Ozzy Osbourne, Vasco Rossi, Eros Ramazzotti, Christina Aguilera, Tracy Chapman, Phil Collins and The Cheetah Girls; Dolby Laboratory; Santana Band, Chicago Band and other American first-line musician. In the fourth quarter of 2013, he participated in Jiangsu Satellite TV's important music reality show "Almighty Star Wars" and partnered with domestic singer Sun Nan to use different music styles to show the attitudes and musical abilities of mainland musicians. The comments are sharp and speak the truth, ushering in the truth-telling era of Chinese music reality shows, so stay tuned.
2 Creative process
The first work Jin Wulin created was completed in Shanghai. The song was called "Terrible Prophecy". He also wrote many songs in 1991. Most of the songs can no longer be heard. Among them was a song called "The Destruction of Pompeii", which left a deep impression on me.
3 Records "Paradise Lost"
The second year after signing with Dadi Records, Jin Wulin launched an alternative record with a classical style of serious music "Paradise Lost"
Jin Wulin's lyrics have a strong literary flavor, and most of them are profound and difficult to understand.
The narrative song "Shanghai Women" is like a avant-garde poem of epiphany, which moves people in the midst of puzzling difficulties.
Jin Wulin's music is influenced by many styles, which can be easily seen from his works. For example: symphony, concerto, heavy metal, RB, punk, etc. Through absorption and reference, an atmosphere of orderly chaos is created.
The song of "Ukiyo-e" sounds like a neighing sound coming from the bottom of the water. The vague lyrics are read in plain English, painting a trance-like picture of the human world. The overlapping music and vocals reveal the confusions and tragedies of human nature.
"Paradise Lost" uses the Central Choir, chief violinist Liang Danan, and Li Quan also participated in the piano performance.
Working together to create a majestic and epic effect. The conceptual theme of "human desire" is vividly depicted.
In addition, the song "Metamorphosis", which has an obvious skit style, is quite surprising. The small and profound meanings all tell the false feelings and helplessness of being in the mortal world.
"I Was Sung by You" is a song composed by Sanbao. One of his violin solos is particularly brilliant in the song. Jin Wulin's performance is even more high-pitched and angry. In another song "Return to the Yang", Jin Wulin tried again the sentiment of heavy metal. He precipitated the power and thickness of music to create experimental sounds with a strong sense of liveness. There is a tough and wild temperament.
"Okay" is a very ideological piece with full musical elements and full of innovative ideas. At the beginning and end of the song, clips from Mono's model drama "Taking Tiger Mountain by Wisdom" are added. The familiar lyrics are endlessly memorable.
Jin Wulin explains his serious music this way: "Music itself and my creation are both serious, and any form is a tool to express thinking.
I hope my music can bring a conceptual change to people. "
Nowadays, Jin Wulin has been working as a professional producer behind the scenes and rarely has the opportunity to appear in people's sight. During this period, he participated in the production of Faye Wong's "The Wandering Red Shoes", Li Quan Composition and arrangement of songs such as "One Thousand and One Nights Flowers Bloom" and Ding Wei's "Start".
