On Jin Yuan's Poems of Asking Questions
Embarrassed, I'm still dead and I'll never see my predecessors again.
There are lingyun pens vertically and horizontally, and it is pitiful to bow down to others.
The awkward step is still the same: awkward step, pressing step. Phase static, phase following. Here, when singing and answering with poems, secondary rhymes are bound by the rhymes of others and cannot be expressed freely. The ancients had a tradition of exchanging poems. At first, you just need to coordinate with the meaning, and don't worry about the style and rhyme of the poem. But later it developed into a harmony poem that must use the rhyme of the poem, called harmony rhyme. There are homophones and sub-homophones in the harmony rhyme, and homophones are homophones in different orders. The second rhyme is homophony, and the order is the same. This method originated in Bai Yuan, and Pi Rixiu and Lu Guimeng also wrote this method. After Su Shi and Huang Tingjian in Song Dynasty, harmony became popular and became a style of poetry.
This poem is a criticism of the harmony and rhyme of poetry. Because this kind of poem with secondary rhyme is often limited by the rhyme and the meaning of the original poem, the author can't freely express his heart, but has to bow to others and walk in embarrassment. Therefore, Yuan Haowen made a bitter satire on this poetic style and pointed out that it was "pitiful". The poet is required to "have his own lingyun pen" like Yu Xin, to express his true nature boldly and freely, and not to be a poor man who follows others.
