About Zhu Ziqing

Zhu Ziqing (1898— 1948), whose real name is Zi Bi, whose real name is Pei County, whose real name is Qiu Shi, was born in Donghai, Jiangsu Province, and was a modern essayist and poet in China. His main works include poetry collection Trace, prose collection Back, European Miscellanies, etc.

Like his contemporaries, he attended a private school when he was a child, and later entered the No.8 Middle School in Jiangsu Province, where he graduated from 19 16.

In the same year, he entered the Philosophy Department of Peking University and graduated from 1920.

After graduation, he has taught in Hangzhou Normal University No.1 Middle School, Wu Shu Chinese College, Taizhou Zhejiang University No.6 Middle School, Wenzhou Zhejiang University No.10 Middle School, Ningbo Zhejiang University No.4 Middle School, chunhui middle school and other schools.

Zhu Ziqing's early creation began with new poems. 1922, together with Yu Pingbo and Ye Shengtao, he founded Poetry Monthly, the earliest poetry magazine since the May 4th Movement.

1923 published the first long poem "Destruction".

1926 10, published the first collection of essays "Back".

1924 After the publication of Trace in February, Zhu Ziqing's creative footprint began to shift from poetry to prose.

1928 published the first collection of essays "The Back". During this period, he also wrote many well-known essays such as "The Back" and "Moonlight on the Lotus Pond".

Since then, Zhu Ziqing has devoted most of his energy to the teaching and research of China's classical poems, and at the same time, he has written many essays and book reviews, and there are still collections of essays published one after another. During the Anti-Japanese War, life in Kunming was extremely difficult because of soaring prices, large family population and high expenses. Under such difficult conditions, Zhu Ziqing still worked day and night, and entered a period of high-yield creation, and successively published works such as London Miscellaneous Notes, New Poems Miscellaneous Talks, Poems and Ci Poems, and Classic Talks.

1946 back to Tsinghua, stomach trouble worsened. He was ill, and finished his works, such as "Suit the Elegant and Popular" and "The Influence of China".

1947, he issued a protest against the arbitrary arrest of people by the Beiping authorities and signed the Declaration against Hunger and Civil War.

1June, 948, he signed the protest against American aid to Japan and refused to accept American aid flour. Under severe malnutrition, his illness, which has been delayed for more than ten years, can no longer stand the torment.

Before his death, he also told his family not to buy American-aided flour. Mao Zedong praised Zhu Ziqing for starving to death rather than accepting the spirit of American "relief powder" and praised him for "showing the heroism of our nation". Zhu Ziqing's life is a life from writer to scholar. In his limited life, he has always closely linked his research work with literary creation and appreciation activities, leaving more than 20 kinds of works, about 2 million words, which are inexhaustible wealth for future generations.
