8. What are the stages of Tang poetry?

The development of Tang poetry has roughly experienced four stages: early Tang, prosperous Tang, middle Tang and late Tang.

(1) early Tang poetry.

Its representative figures are Yang Jiong, Lu and Luo, and they are called "four outstanding figures in the early Tang Dynasty". Their appearance expanded the scope of Tang poetry. Whether writing frontier fortress or farewell, there is a grand and open mind. In the late Tang Dynasty, two important poets appeared, namely He Zhang. What Chen Ziang advocates is a kind of sustenance, and his 38 kinds of "feelings" are testimony. However, one of the best poems he wrote in his life was Poems on Youzhou Tower: "Before me, where was the past era?" Behind me, where are the future generations? . I think of heaven and earth, with no limit and no end, but it is lonely. "Write a sad story. Zhang's "Moonlit Night on a Spring River" is euphemistic and implicit, with beautiful artistic conception. The appearance of He Zhang marks the maturity of Tang poetry.

② Tang poetry.

The development of Tang poetry was in the prosperous Tang Dynasty. Wang Wei and Meng Haoran showed their kindness and the beauty of landscape and countryside. Chang Jian and others in this period had similar writing styles. At this time, the most common Tang poems are poems describing frontier life. Cen Can is a typical representative.

The poet who represents the highest achievement of Tang poetry is the great poet Li Bai. Li Bai is a poet who thinks that his personality is heroic and his feelings are unrestrained. His poems are full of the confidence and ambition of the literati in the prosperous Tang Dynasty.

Du Fu is also an outstanding representative of poets in the Tang Dynasty. He was called "Poet Saint" by later generations. Representative works include Northern Expedition, Three Officials and Three Farewells.

③ Poetry in the Middle Tang Dynasty.

In the middle Tang dynasty, the development of poetry was diversified, and different schools of art appeared. The important representatives are Han Yu and Meng Jiao. They pursue strange beauty, attach importance to subjectivity and often break the boundaries of poetry. Among them, more poets were born in this period, including great patriotic poets such as Bai Juyi and Li He.

④ Late Tang poetry.

A large number of epics appeared in the late Tang Dynasty, among which Du Mu and Xu Hun were the representatives. The highest artistic achievement in the late Tang Dynasty was Li Shangyin. Together with Du Mu, he was called "Little Du Li". Their artistic skills reached a fascinating level, which greatly expanded the emotional capacity of poetry and made a final contribution to the development of Tang poetry.
