The name (title) of the poem is Jueju, because there was no title at that time or the title was lost.
quatrains are a kind of poetic style of ancient poetry. Poems that express four sentences can be divided into five, six and seven words. This naming method is similar to Li Shangyin's untitled and the use of epigrams as titles in Song Ci.
The earliest known quatrains appeared in Xu Ling's "A New Ode to Yutai" in the Chen Dynasty. This book contains four five-character poems of the Han Dynasty, and these four poems actually have no titles. The editor added a title called "Ancient quatrains".
classification of quatrains
1. According to the metrical pattern of poetry, quatrains are divided into quatrains and ancient quatrains. The quatrains only appeared after the rise of metrical poems, and the ancient quatrains existed long before the appearance of metrical poems. Xu Ling, editor-in-chief of the Chen Dynasty in the Southern Dynasties, has the name of "ancient quatrains". However, although this quatrain rhymes, it is relatively free, or it can be said that some poets are unwilling to be bound by metrical rules.
2. After the prevalence of quatrains, the ancient quatrains are still used and developed. There are many ancient quatrains in five words, but very few in seven. Therefore, seven words and eight sentences are not very common.
3. According to the number of words in each sentence, quatrains can be divided into five-character quatrains, six-character quatrains and seven-character quatrains, of which five or seven quatrains are the majority and six-character quatrains are rare.
