Evia is a Gongora poet. His famous works include "A Bouquet of Poetic Flowers Cultivated and Picked in Youth". Famous poets of the 18th century include Juan Bautista Aguirre (1725-1786) and Ignacio Escandon, as well as José Orozco, Ramon Viescas and Joaquín Larrea et al. Prose from this period includes "The Peaceful Reign of Religion" written by Gaspar Villarroel, also known as "The Sword Marriage of Pope and King".
