On the origin and characteristics of realism in China's modern literature-realism, as a creative method from the cultural transformation of modern society, is actually an attitude and principle adopted by writers when they understand and deal with the relationship between literary creation and reality; China's social and cultural transformation in modern times laid the basic position for modern writers to know and express the world. This paper discusses the origin and characteristics of realism in China's modern literature from two aspects: realism and romanticism. Realism, as a creative method from the cultural transformation of modern society, is actually an attitude and principle held by writers when they understand and deal with the relationship between literary creation and reality. The social and cultural transformation formed in modern China was established from two aspects of realism and romanticism, and the origin and characteristics of realism in modern China literature were re-explored.
