Part 1/Xu Hun and Dadu
In the Southern Song Dynasty, there was a book "Tongjiang Poetry" that recorded the best lines of the Tang and Song Dynasties. There is such a sentence in it : "Xu Hun's thousand poems are wet, and Du Fu's life is full of sorrow."
Du Fu, a famous poet in the Tang Dynasty and a great realist poet in Chinese history, is known as the "History of Poetry". The word "sorrow" points out the characteristics of Du Fu's poems, which are sorrow for his family, his country, and all the people in the world.
Xu Hun, a poet in the late Tang Dynasty, his ancestor Xu Yu once worshiped the prime minister during the period of Wu Zetian. Xu Hun didn't pass the Jinshi exam until he was about forty years old, so he was a late bloomer.
In Xu Hun’s poems, the words water and rain are high-frequency words.
The most famous song "Xianyang City East Tower": "The clouds in the stream have just begun to rise, and the sun has set in the pavilion, and the mountain rain is about to come, and the wind fills the building."
For example, "Thinking of Return": "Yinqin went downstairs to the water, and arrived at Jingjiang in a few days."
For example, "The Egret": "The west wind blows over the water, and the snow is scattered, and the rain is sad."
For example, "Send Off Du Xiucai" "Return to Guilin": "Guizhou is connected with water to the south, and mountains and rivers are connected everywhere."
This is why later generations praised Xu Hun as "a thousand wet people".
? Later generations ranked Xu Hun with the great poet Du Fu, which also shows the recognition of his poetic talent and status in the history of poetry
? Next/Xu Hun and Xiao Du
Xu Hunqi was quite influential at the time. Du Mu, known as "Little Li Du", was deeply influenced by Xu Hun's style. .
Xu Hun is more than ten years older than Du Mu, but his poetry writing style is very similar. According to statistics, there are as many as 58 overlapping poems between Xu Hun and Du Mu, and 74 of Xu Hun's poems were mistakenly attributed to Du Mu.
Among them is the well-known "Qingming Festival" that has been recited orally, "It rains heavily during the Qingming Festival, and passers-by on the road want to die. If I ask where the restaurant is, the shepherd boy points to Xinghua Village in the distance." Some people believe that its author was Xu Hun. Although it is generally believed that the author is Du Mu, it is controversial in academic circles.
