New poetry refers to a kind of poetry genre that appeared around the May 4th Movement, which is different from classical poetry and takes vernacular as the basic language means.
In the development of China literature, poetry (including poetry, fu, ci, qu, etc. ) has made great achievements. However, in modern times, the creation of classical poetry gradually became rigid, "platitudes" flooded, and the tendency of "moaning without illness" was quite common. The vocabulary used in classical poetry is seriously out of touch with modern spoken language, and its strict restrictions in form (including rules and regulations, antithetical quotations and flat rhyme) have greatly restricted the ever-changing and increasingly complex social life of poetry and the expression of people's true thoughts and feelings. Therefore, the New Poetry Revolution became the first and most important part of the May 4th New Literature Movement.
