Picking all the cold branches and refusing to live on them, the lonely sandbank is cold
The famous line comes from the "Residence of Divination Master Huangzhou Dinghui Yuan" written by Su Shi, a poet in the Song Dynasty
Full poem:
The missing moon hangs on the sparse tung trees, and the missing moon breaks one's initial tranquility.
Who sees a lonely person walking around alone?
The misty and solitary shadow.
When you start, you look back. There is no one to forgive you for your hatred.
Pick up all the cold branches and refuse to live on them,
The lonely sandbank is cold.
This poem was written in December of the fifth year of Yuanfeng (1082) when Su Shi was demoted to Huangzhou and lived in Dinghui Yuan. In the poem, the image of a lonely hunk on a moonlit night is used to express the poet's aloofness and contempt for popular customs.
The first two sentences of the poem create a lonely atmosphere in the dead of night and the moon hanging on the sparse trees, paving the way for the appearance of Youren and Guhong. "Leak" refers to the clepsydra used by the ancients to keep time; "leaky" refers to late at night. These two people are extraordinary in their writing, exaggerating a state of being born aloof and aloof. The next two sentences first point out the image of a "ghost" who lives alone and has a lot of worries, and then moves from "ghost" to lonesome in a light and flying way, making the two images correspond and fit together. , makes people think of: Isn't the aloof state of mind of "Youren" just like the shadow of Gu Hong, who is as ethereal as a fairy? These two sentences are not only actual writing, but also through the correspondence and grafting of the images of humans and birds. They are highly symbolic and poetic and strengthen the otherworldliness of "Youren".
Xia Que is dedicated to Gu Hong's misfortune. He was filled with resentment and frightened. He picked up all the cold branches and refused to rest on it, so he had to settle on a lonely and desolate sandbank. Here, the poet uses symbolic techniques to ingeniously express Hong's loneliness and mist, turning around in shock, harboring resentment, and choosing a place to stay, expressing the author's lonely situation when he was relegated to Huangzhou and his noble self-profession and unwillingness to follow the crowd. state of mind. The author and Gu Hong cherish each other. He uses anthropomorphic techniques to express Gu Hong's psychological activities and objectifies his own subjective feelings, which shows superb artistic skills.
The realm of this poem is indeed as Huang Tingjian said: "The meaning of the poem is sublime. It seems that it is not like eating fireworks and cannibalizing people's words, but it is not like there are thousands of books in the chest, and there is not a trace of tackiness in the writing, who can achieve this!" The high, free and easy state of being free from the mundane world benefits from the superb artistic skills. The author "sings stories with his spirit", taking themes and themes, setting scenes in his mind, and supporting things and people. In the description of the environment and background of Gu Hong and Moon Night, the scene selection and narrative are simple and concise, ethereal and flying, implicit and vivid. Expressive and highly typical.

Sitting on the ground and walking all day Eighty Thousand Miles
The time flies and the stars pass
There are many talented people in the bright world
The sages are often lonely
